Coach Brian Daboll

Giants Postgame Press Conference

Vikings 27, Giants 24

BRIAN DABOLL: Tough game. Give them credit. They made a few more plays than we did. You have two turnovers, a blocked punt, to be in the game at the end of the game, the guys were resilient, but you can't have those mistakes.

The fumble took away three points, interception took away at least three points, that's minimum, and then we give the ball back to them in our end zone or in our territory where they hit Jefferson there. We got him doubled, but he makes a good play, and they made the plays they needed to to win the game, so give them credit. Long field goal, it was a good kick by the kicker.

Q. Wide receiver screen to Jefferson, looked like you were signaling the guys to go that way. Did you see that play kind of developing before the snap?

BRIAN DABOLL: I don't remember. I mean, I think I saw -- I thought he was going over there, but 61-yard field goal, I think he's 10 of 18 on 50-plus yarders, had a long one. They made the plays they needed to to win it. Give them credit.

Q. You guys were very aggressive in some of those 3rd and long situations, defensively I'm talking about. What's your thought --

BRIAN DABOLL: He thought he mixed it up. I thought Wink had a good plan. He mixed it up.

Q. So you're all on board with them -- those two big Jefferson catches --

BRIAN DABOLL: Yeah, I thought Wink had a good plan. I thought he mixed it up and they made a couple good plays.

Q. Daniel seemed very accurate today. On the interception --

BRIAN DABOLL: Got a little bit behind him. Good play by 7 there. He's a good player. Made a heck of a play, and again, there's another turnover in the fringe that takes away points.

Q. Were you aware of the other scores around the league in terms of --

BRIAN DABOLL: No.

Q. You would have made the Playoffs -- if you guys did win the game, you would have clinched a playoff berth. How much do you look at that as a missed opportunity?

BRIAN DABOLL: I look at it as let's get ready for the Colts. Had some missed opportunities, fix what we need to fix and get ready for the Colts.

Q. How big does it make next week then?

BRIAN DABOLL: Same as this week, same as all the weeks. Every game is important. We've got to make sure we do a good job of game planning, executing, decision making. They're all big. There are only 17 of them.

Q. What did you make of Daniel's play overall today?

BRIAN DABOLL: I thought he did some good things. Look, all of us, we just didn't do enough to win the game.

Q. Any early word on Azeez?

BRIAN DABOLL: No.

Q. Do you know how he got hurt?

BRIAN DABOLL: I don't know the play, no.

Q. Did you have any thought on trying a 62-yard field goal at the end of the half there?

BRIAN DABOLL: No.

Q. The interception that was overturned not to your benefit, did you have a feeling it was going to be in real time, or did you think it was a good pick?

BRIAN DABOLL: The one to Flott? I think it's a pick until they said they were going to look at it, and when they say it's not, then it's not.

Q. The blocked punt right up the middle --

BRIAN DABOLL: Looked like it, yeah. Looked like Casey was on the ground, picked him I think. Go back and look at it, but it looked it was right up the middle, saw Casey on the ground.

Q. Even though it's a loss for you, do you feel good about the way your team played overall?

BRIAN DABOLL: You never feel good after a loss. You never feel good after a loss.

Q. On 4th and 2, can you take us through the play call, Saquon's touchdown? A run there is kind of a risky call. Take us through that process.

BRIAN DABOLL: I thought it was the best call for that situation. If it doesn't work, it's not a great call; if it works, it's a good call.
