Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

Coach Andy Reid

Postgame Press Conference

Chiefs 27, Minnesota 20

ANDY REID: Couple areas here. Travis hurt his ankle. Came back in and finished.

Drue Tranquill hurt his knee and came back in.

Mike Danner hurt his ribs that last series, that sack on the last play. That's kind of the epitome of what went on tonight, this afternoon here.

The guys really played hard and as a team. Some great individual efforts, but I thought overall just what a tremendous job. Great to see our fans here. We felt you.

So Pat, it was 10 for 57 -- excuse me, 30 for 40 for 278 yards. (Indiscernible) and was out for a bit and sucked it up and came back.

Big play. What do you say about Sneed? I mean, this is the best receiver in the National Football League, or at least one of them, arguably the best. You know, he went toe to toe with 'em tonight. Great job.

And then justin Reid starting off with a big fumble.

It was a good all around game. Special teams were solid and had couple nice returns.

Just all the way around it was good.

Q. Did you have any doubt that Travis would suck it up and get back out there? Looked severe at first.

ANDY REID: He's hurt. Be a little sore. Pretty tough kid, so I wasn't sure where we were going at halftime, so...

Q. How was that for you guys emotionally to have that? I think you were succeeding without him, but having him come back out...

ANDY REID: Kevin does a heck of a job here with this football team. We knew it was going to be a knock-down, drag-out. They haven't lost a game here, less than one score, so, I mean, it's ridiculous -- or for more than one score. That's ridiculous. They're tough.

He'll get it going. They're right there.

Q. Can you take us through that sequence from your standpoint when Travis goes out of the game, halftime? Were you clear that he was coming back or how did all that go?

ANDY REID: No, I wasn't clear. Until he came out and told me. You guys probably saw that.

But he said, just give me a minute. I'm going to get this thing right. So he did a bunch of drills on his own there just working with it.

You know, our training staff was working with him during halftime, and Rick does a great job. Pretty amazing.

Q. Third and 18 play, first drive of the second half, sack...

ANDY REID: To Watson, yeah.

Q. What did you see?

ANDY REID: Well, he did a great -- I mean, they zero blitzed and Pat put it up and Watson went up and made a phenomenal play. I mean, great play.

Thought our receivers as a group did a nice job. You know, the young guys stepped up, had some good plays. Couple drops in there. We'll work on that.

They're growing and I thought they were very respectful tonight.

Q. Bryce's touchdown, too?

ANDY REID: Tremendous job. Two of them. He had two catches, big third down, and so, I mean, he really did a nice job.

Q. Andy, you talked about Justin. Walk us through the fourth and 11, what you saw from him on the last play when they threw the flag originally.

ANDY REID: Yeah, so he was just running with him. He wasn't grabbing or pushing him. They were just running down the field. The ball obviously wasn't catchable.

But he did a nice job I thought shadowing him. I thought it was a good call. I think picking the flag up was probably the right thing to do. They communicated, which that's all he asked for. There was one guy -- they're human beings, so they're working on that there.

Q. (Regarding fans.)

ANDY REID: Fans were incredible. When you come out and you see all that red, I mean, that's impressive. Especially when you have the purple. I mean, there's a lot of purple here. That was a great thing.

Q. Andy, the team wins back-to-back rough road games.

ANDY REID: Yeah, they're a tough bunch. I appreciate that, too. They work hard. Every day they work hard. We're working on getting better, and this was a team that we really respected and what they've done, so we knew it wasn't going to be an easy battle.

Q. What was Travis' message?

ANDY REID: He said, just give me a minute. Let me see what I can do here.

Q. At the start of the third quarter?

ANDY REID: Yeah, yeah.

Q. That's why you didn't get him on that drive?

ANDY REID: Yeah, right, exactly.

Q. You went back in at one point started to pull him back.

ANDY REID: We were rotating him in and out, yeah, just trying to make sure he was good. He's pretty convincing, so I just wanted to make sure.

Q. Other thing was just what in your view happened on the fake punt early in the game?

ANDY REID: That was pretty nice. That was a sweet play by them, so we had a pretty good idea they were going to fake it but did a little double-double there and they got us.

So...
