Vikings - 23 49ers - 17

Q. -- that scheme, especially when you're trying to dig yourselves out of a hole.

BROCK PURDY: Yeah, it's tough. You know, when first or second down, our positive plays and, you know, trying to move the ball. You got to rely on third down with their scheme and, obviously, their disguises and stuff. It can be tough. They just did a good job with making it look like one thing and it was another. Different types of blitzes and stuff.

So they did a lot, and that's just on us. It's on me to move the ball, be efficient on first and second down, get us on third and manageable and convert on third down.

It's the game of football. It's four quarters like that. We had to learn the hard way.

Q. Is there anything (inaudible)?

BROCK PURDY: I mean, it's just coming out and it's as simple as executing. We've got the players. We've got the scheme. We've got what it takes. And it's dropping back and executing. Knowing where my answers are at and getting the balls in the guys' hands and drop stepping and getting first down. It's all that.

It's football, man. Just because you've got really good players and a good scheme doesn't mean the other team is going to give it to you. You have to go out and earn it. We've had to learn that the first two games this season. We'll do better next week.

Q. You've talked about kind of the gravity of Christian when he's out there. Do you notice anything different in the way teams are defending you when he's not out there these last couple weeks?

BROCK PURDY: I think just being able to drop back in zone and not having to put two guys on a running back coming out of the backfield like Christian.

Outside of that, man, like Brian Flores in this scheme, it's been his scheme. He did what he's done on tape today. They're just really, really good at it. So for me to sit here to say that without Christian on the field, they didn't do this or that, it's hard to tell. It's just -- tip the cap to Brian Flores.

Q. Brock, B.A. mentioned you two being 85 percent. Would you agree with that statement? Where do you feel like you two are specifically?

BROCK PURDY: For me, I think he looks pretty good and stuff, but I'm not dropping back, going B.A.'s not been like what he was like. I don't think that at all. For me, I go through my reads. He's been where he needs to be.

There's probably a couple routes maybe and certain looks where we both could have been better on stuff. It's like early in the season stuff if you ask me. I know we'll continue to get better together in our connection. For four quarters, I thought B.A. grinded and, you know, went and competed, man. I'm proud of him for that.

Q. Brock, can you revisit the fourth and goal pass? What broke down on that, and then the effects of that overall.

BROCK PURDY: Yeah. Talking about J.J., that one? Yeah, I mean, we felt like we could have scored on that drive, and loved the aggressiveness by Kyle going for it, fourth and two, fourth and one.

They had a zero blitz, and one guy came free, which in our pass protection, that's just how it is. They got a hand on it, a tipped ball at the end. So it was a good defensive play on them. I was just trying to give J.J. a shot. That was where the ball was supposed to go against man. Thought I had it. Ball got tipped.

Q. The other Number 13, tough game yesterday for Nevada at Minnesota with Chubba playing quarterback for the Wolf Pack. How much have you been able to pay attention to Nevada football? And with Chubba down there, what have your conversations been like?

BROCK PURDY: I've sort of been seeing how they're doing and stuff. Obviously, checking in on my brother. He was a little hurt with his throwing arm earlier in the season. Just wanted to check in, make sure he's good, being a good brother and being there for him. But checked in on Nevada, keeping up.

Q. What your memories of Jeff Choate?

BROCK PURDY: I think he offered me my first scholarship at Montana State. He was a good coach on the phone, talking about why I should have gone to Montana State. It was nothing but love, and I'm glad my brother is playing for him.
