Vikings 21, Colts 13
Q. Just overall thoughts. Tough to get some drives going tonight. What do you think was part of the hang-up?
JOE FLACCO: Yeah, listen, guys, they definitely got after us. I mean, they did what they were going to do the whole game. We had a play here and there, but we ended up shooting ourselves in the foot. We're just not getting good at keep drives going.
Q. The first drive, what happened on the exchange there with J.T.?
JOE FLACCO: You guys can probably see it's just an unfortunate happening. Had a good drive going there. Just one of those things that kind of (indiscernible).
Q. Can you explain the Byron Murphy pick and what you saw?
SHANE STEICHEN: We had Josh kind of working a little route there to shake him loose and just felt like we were kind of right there in midfield range, field goal range, and just trusting my guy, and he undercut it. I threw it and got him back quick enough.
Q. You said they knew what they were going to try to do with you guys. Were you surprised how difficult it was so get any plays against this defense?
JOE FLACCO: I think any time you have a game like we had tonight, you're probably surprised a little bit that you weren't able to get it going because they obviously did a really good job against us tonight.
You know coming in here against a team like this it's going to be difficult, but I don't think you ever anticipate something like that.
Q. You didn't have a sack until the final drive. Did you guys feel like for the most part you picked up the blitzes?
JOE FLACCO: Yeah, I thought we did a good job. Ultimately I don't think they -- maybe they brought signals and stuff like that, but I felt like our guys did a great job up front. It was more about us just kind of executing.
Q. On the fourth down I asked if it was a tough play. How did you see that?
JOE FLACCO: By the time the fourth down came around, they were playing everybody tight there. I was trying to hold the ball as long as I can to try to give the one guy that separates maybe a shot, so...
Q. Even for a veteran like yourself, that penalty disguised a lot of stuff. How does that complicate things for you?
JOE FLACCO: I think you can see that they were kind of drawing it out of the snap and doing what they were doing. Any time you make things a little bit more difficult, whatever it is -- I would just kind of give them credit in terms of what they did.
They just played well. They had guys in spots to kind of get things away from us. It wasn't necessarily that they were fooling us. I think they did a good job, but we didn't do a great job of executing on our end.
Q. The connection with you and Josh. Obviously there were big plays to help give yourselves a chance there at the end.
JOE FLACCO: Josh is just a good player. Any time you can get the ball to him and get him going a little bit, it definitely kind of feeds to the emotion of the team as well.
Q. Shane said they pretty much lived in too high to take away the deep ball. When you don't have the deep ball, how do you -- is it just you have to complete a lot of passes to keep drives going?
JOE FLACCO: Pretty much, yes. Get the ball game going and complete some stuff underneath. You know, things like that. You have to do your best to sustain drives early in the game and maybe get them out without doing some of that stuff. You know, that means complete some passes and run the ball.
