Vikings 21, Colts 13
A. You know obviously we would've liked to be better in the first half. You know, can't turn the ball over the way I did today first and foremost.
Just a resilient group. Our defense played incredible I thought most of the game. And then our offensive line, running backs, receivers, tight ends, the way they were able to block throughout the entire game really kind of set the tone for the game.
That was kind of, I felt like, the reason we were able to finish the way we did with that last touchdown.
Q. Can you just quickly take us through the two interceptions and maybe what you were seeing.
A. Yeah. You know, the first one, thought I had a throw to TJ in the back of the end zone. Just got to get it over that backer. Just didn't make a good throw. Just got to be careful when I'm down there knowing that we have points, especially early in the game.
And then the second one was just a bad decision. Just got to be able to check that ball down, first down, first play of the drive. Just being smarter with the football that way.
Q. ...analyze your performance in the game, how do you look at those two along with the touchdown passes and the positive yards and all that and the win? How do you kind of process all that together in terms of how you think you did?
A. I haven't yet to be honest. You know, I'll watch the tape and kind of evaluate it. I felt like we played a really clean game as an offense besides my turnovers, which was good. You know, I felt like we were really good with no self-inflicted, all those things; penalty-wise, pre-snap I felt like we were getting in and out of the huddle. Tempo was really good all day.
So we were really efficient as an offense that way. Just got to take care the football.
Q. The last touchdown to Josh there, what led you to take the high out route on that? Looked like you had three levels there.
A. Yeah.
Q. What led you to go with the deeper one?
A. Yeah, just popped. Josh just popped on that one. Saw the backer in, you know, panic mode a little bit trying to get back to him, so just felt the space.
Q. The touchdown to Jordan, what did you see on that play?
A. Yeah, just felt, again, like I just said, felt the space. Felt the corner kind of come down on Aaron in the flat. Felt like I had a window there.
Then the catch was unbelievable. For him to be able to snag that the way he did, you know, and keep the ball away from the ground, just unbelievable body control by Jordan.
Q. That 40 yard throw to Justin, how much do your eyes light up when you see single coverage like that on him?
A. Yeah, any time -- really any time we get that matchup, if we have the play called, it's going to be tough cover for anyone. Really for any of our skill guys, if they get a matchup one on one I feel very confident about them beating the guy in front of them.
To be honest, I under-threw it. Didn't want to over-throw it. If I had thrown a perfect ball he would have gotten a touchdown, but just, again, he beat him and I tried to put it on them as best I could.
Q. How surprised were you they picked up the flag on the fumble? Two weeks in a row tough calls went against you.
A. Yeah, you know, for myself, I felt like I could have held onto the football first and foremost. The calls are what they are. It's not my job to evaluate or talk about that even, so that's really all I'll say about it.
Q. You mentioned kind of like you haven't fully processed it. You'll watch the film. Is it hard for you not to be overly critical on yourself? Do you feel like you are or not at all?
A. Yeah, I feel like just with the experience that I've had throughout the league of playing bad games, playing good games, like it's just you continue to learn from experiences.
The two interceptions and the fumble, those are experiences that I'll learn from. Obviously great to be able to come out with a win, but it could have easily gone the other way.
And so just understanding that and understanding that we just got to come back to work tomorrow, continue to work and stack days of good practice together and get ready for Jacksonville.
Q. Sam, what does it tell you about yourself to be able to lean on your ability when you have the turnovers and the call that doesn't go your way, that the coach still leans on your for the big play in the fourth quarter. What does that say about yourself?
A. Yeah, we just got to come back out and play football. You know, it's that simple. You come out, you make a mistake, obviously it sucks, you don't want it to happen, but it's part of the game.
You just got to continue to go out there and play football.
Q. Evaluate Cam Robinson. What you did you feel like he provided for the offense tonight?
A. Just an unwavering confidence in the huddle with the way that he was able to go out there and execute a game plan. Haven't watched the tape yet, but it seemed that he was very, very confident to be able to go out there and execute, and I felt like did he a really good job.
Q. Do you feel like it was smoother from an operational standpoint tonight?
A. No pre-snap penalties. I think that's the biggest thing that sticks out.
And, again, we were able to -- even the first half we were able to move the football. We just kind of idled down a little bit when we got in their territory. We will look at the tape and clean those things up.
