Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

Sam Ehlinger

Press Conference

Colts - 12, Vikings - 10

Q. Starting the game and playing with the (indiscernible), was that a difference? And secondly just (inaudible)?

SAM EHLINGER: Definitely a different experience. Awesome to be out there with some of the starters. Playing against some defensive starters as well. A Rowdy environment here in Minnesota. It was a great experience. First start. Obviously would have wanted things to go a little differently than the way they did. We were able to sustain some solid drives there getting down in the red zone. Obviously got to learn it in turnovers, regardless of situation, and continue to move the ball and be able to convert in the red zone.

Q. Talk about last week. (Inaudible) got ahead early and (inaudible) first one today, come back, is that something you're going to take away from this?

SAM EHLINGER: I guess so.

Q. There's some positive about it, right?

SAM EHLINGER: No, obviously I've got to watch film and see what happened.

Q. That first interception the ball got tipped, did you have a sense --

SAM EHLINGER: I don't know. I don't know.

Q. Did it go high?

SAM EHLINGER: I don't know. I know the guy had his hand up. I don't know. I don't want to -- I'm not going to make excuses for it.

Q. But when you go back watch film, what will you be looking for?

SAM EHLINGER: I think just everything. As I would if I had a good game and just (inaudible) on myself, learn, get better. Continue to push forward. I understand the stakes are (inaudible) as a rookie. And there's not a lot of rookies that get an opportunity to be able to start in this type of game. So I'm just thankful.

Q. The goal is always to put it in the end zone, the guys tough time (inaudible)?

SAM EHLINGER: Yes, it's tough. It's tough. Gotta be -- you want to be a really successful team (inaudible) it's something we work on all the time. We talk about all the time. We've got to be better in that area. To be able to -- make points on the offense.

Q. And we asked Frank, do you know to stand to make a decision, it's not up to you, but he said he may need to see more. What do you think it's going to take to step up and take this?

SAM EHLINGER: That's a great question. I think we're both such young guys. We're trying to develop ourselves and learn as much as possible. I know the defensive coach made the decision (inaudible). And we understand this is a marathon, not a sprint. And hopefully we both will be able to (inaudible). It's a small step in that. Focus on every day and getting better.

Q. Talk about the moment, not getting too big. Not letting that -- but is it hard when you're in the middle of the quarterback competition, you start your first game, there's a lot going on (inaudible)?

SAM EHLINGER: Definitely. But that's why you play the game, right? It's a lot. But that's where you've got to excel and you want to be what everybody dreams of being, and the pressure and the competition is something that should make you quite better. Hopefully it helps you develop, be able to come out and be a better player. I think that's what we're both helping each other do, pushing each other every day.
