Lottie Woad

Quick Quotes

Q. Second appearance for you here ANWA. What did you learn from last year that you're hoping to carryover to this year and this week?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, definitely learned a lot about the course management here, particularly Champions Retreat. Played it twice. Greens are really difficult and you got to miss it in the right places, which definitely penalized me a little bit in the first round last year.

Looking to learn from that a little bit.

Q. Finished 13th last year. How do you improve on this as you start play tomorrow?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, just looking to keep myself in contention and just stick to my own game plan and just see what happens really.

But definitely the experience from last year playing in this event, knowing what to expect is definitely going to help.

Q. Obviously a very prestigious event this week. What does it mean to be part of ANWA?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, means a lot. I watched this event when I was younger, so I've always wanted to play in it. Get great crowds. Lots of young people watching. Just trying to inspire them a little bit.

There is a lot of meaning behind this event.

Q. How do you stay focused on tomorrow, the first and second round, before of course Augusta National, the big dog at the end of the week?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, just kind of treat it like any other event. Prep is still going to be the same, just like what I do for a college event really.

Yeah, nothing really different.

Q. How do you feel about your game heading into this week? Where are you at mentally?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I am feeling really good.

Been playing nicely. Looking to continue on that really and not do anything different.

Q. Plenty of players her making their debut. What advice or what do you tell them leading up to tomorrow?

LOTTIE WOAD: Definitely just enjoy the experience. You get to play two amazing courses, play against the best people in the world, and just looking to see where you're at compared to that really. There is no negatives you can really take from that.

Q. Is there a highlight for you this week?

LOTTIE WOAD: Well, I got my family here, so just playing in front of them will be nice. My coach is here as well. So, yeah, pretty fun.

Q. Family came all the way over. Who came to support you?

LOTTIE WOAD: My dad came. My na and my aunt have come as well. My na who is 85. She's made the trip. That's going to be fun for her to watch. If she can get round the course. It's quite long.

Q. Quite a trek at 85 to fly from England.

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah.

Q. What does that mean to have her here?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, it means a lot. She said last year she was going to come and I was like, okay. Didn't really think it was going to happen. Then she bought the ticket and was like, I'm coming, and I was like, all right, see you there.

Q. What advice has your family given you as you head into tomorrow?

LOTTIE WOAD: I don't really know if they gave me any advice. Just enjoy it. Yeah, just enjoy it. Stick to my normal game, and, yeah, just a great event to play in really.
