Q. Talk about the hole-out there at 17.
PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, I was having a pretty mediocre day up until that point. Just a perfect pitching wedge, little small pitching wedge number, rode the wind, and fortunately went right in.
Q. What was the most challenging part of the day?
PATRICK CANTLAY: I think it's just hard to control your golf ball with the wind blowing this much and switching and it's up and down. But with the greens as soft as they are, that's why you see some of those low scores.
Q. What was the number you had into 17?
PATRICK CANTLAY: 146.
Q. And you hit a --
PATRICK CANTLAY: Pitching wedge.
Q. Are you a guy who believes or takes much stock in momentum, that things like that can inject some energy into your week?
PATRICK CANTLAY: I think momentum can be real. Definitely getting it under par for today, I think it's going to play difficult again tomorrow, so put four rounds together under par, have a good chance.
Q. That turned a mediocre round into a solid round (indiscernible)?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, I've got to clean up some stuff. I didn't make too many putts. I didn't really get the speed of the greens down. Left a lot of putts short today. Clean that up over the weekend and try and make some more putts.
Q. Are you a guy who practices after competition rounds or do you like to just unplug it?
PATRICK CANTLAY: I'll do a little bit of both, depending on what's going on. With this being windy and a late start, I'll probably just rest this afternoon. Not afraid to go work on a few things after the round.
Q. Do you watch television coverage at all?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Occasionally, yeah.
Q. The advantages of starting this morning and finishing today with these conditions versus the guys that are going to play with these conditions and have to come back tomorrow morning, do you see a big advantage there?
PATRICK CANTLAY: I don't know if there's going to be too much of an advantage one way or another. It looks like the wind is going to be up both today and tomorrow. I think the weather gets a little better on Saturday and Sunday. Seems like everyone is playing in wind these first couple days.
