Augusta, Georgia, USA

Xander Schauffele

Quick Quotes

Q. It looked really, really hard pretty much the whole day but especially the last couple hours. How did it feel?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, it was probably the toughest day that -- not that I have a ton of experience here, but definitely will probably go down as hopefully the hardest day at Augusta I've ever played.

Q. How did you feel about how you played?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: I played pretty solid. I made some key putts. Just all those holes were sort of doglegging in the wind. That sort of northwest wind seems to be very across. Trying to figure out if it's more north or more west was a challenge, but everybody had to face it. Pretty happy to come in even par.

Q. Was the ball stopping on the greens? Did it feel fair or overly crazy at the end?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: It was fair. If you hit a good -- the fairways out here are right in front of you, so 13 and 15 were those holes you need to take advantage of, and they were still tough to birdie just with how the greens were bouncing. Overall I thought the course played really fair. It was hard to get it close, and you just felt like anytime you had a birdie putt of 15 to 20 feet, you really felt like you needed to make it to try and make up some ground.

Q. How do you feel about your spot going into the weekend?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, it's not bad. It's a little further back than I would like. It would have been a treat to shoot 4-under on a day like today to make up ground, but it is what it is.
