Robert MacIntyre

Quick Quotes

Q. Obviously disappointed, but you really battled hard to try and be here for the weekend.

ROBERT MACINTYRE: Yeah, I just couldn't make it. I just didn't hole one putt, or I would say I holed one putt outside four feet for two days, which is abysmal. Just disappointed.

Q. The second shot at 13 was a foot away from being very good.

ROBERT MACINTYRE: Yeah, that was just rolling the dice. Nothing was -- didn't seem to do anything right or didn't see anything coming off right. Bad swing on -- probably the only bad swing I've had all day really, second shot on 11.

Other than that, I feel like I've played pretty well for two days. I'm going up the road. Just disappointed.

Q. Was it the conditions there, did that sort of --

ROBERT MACINTYRE: No, I always remembered when you see Nick three-putted from down left, didn't get up the slope, and I always knew the right ball was perfect. That was your miss. I was being aggressive to the target.

I actually thought the wind was in out of the right, but it just plays havoc. It kept on switching all day. I've tried to play a little draw in because I can't hit a fade, and if I miss it goes in the water. I'm trying to hit a draw and I've pulled it and the wind is off the left and it's gone too far.

But I thought I'd holed the putt there. I actually felt I played well for two days and I'm going up the road. Yeah, just disappointing.

Q. Obviously excited to be back here, but --

ROBERT MACINTYRE: I'm trying to win the golf tournament, but this is just not the week. Again, I'm playing nice. This is just a golf course that it's either for you or it's not, and this year it's not been for me. A couple of things annoy you. But it's Augusta.

Q. You were there or thereabouts; you were never miles away from it.

ROBERT MACINTYRE: I was battling. I was battling as hard as I could. You can't get the ball in the hole, you've got no chance. You might as well go up the road anyway.

Yeah, I actually can't remember one putt other than today was the 5th hole from 15, 20 feet. Might have holed another one from seven feet on 14. Other than that, it was pretty dire.

Q. Is there a reason that you didn't feel like you were holing anything? Were you uncomfortable?

ROBERT MACINTYRE: It's just the style of golf course. There's a lot of new greens here. Obviously with the hurricane there's a lot of newly laid greens, and just struggling with pace sometimes, struggling with reading them. Yeah, just is not the week.

Q. How difficult is it chasing out there?

ROBERT MACINTYRE: I was trying to play the same way I played yesterday, just hole a few more putts. To be honest, I think I played superbly tee to green. Obviously I hit it in the water on 11; one bad swing comes at the wrong time.

But that hole is torture anyway. You'd as well hit in that 40 yards right of the green than hitting it in the water. Yeah, I think there's a couple holes you'd tweak up, but I hit it in the water on 13 from an absolute perfect golf shot. It moves another yard, it's right next to the hole. It's just one of them days.

Q. Is it just a case of regrouping and going again?

ROBERT MACINTYRE: Yeah, again, as much as I'm annoyed, I'm not really disappointed in the way I've played. Tee to green has been absolutely superb. Again, some nice short game shots. Putter has been hot the last wee while; it just didn't turn up this week.

I went for a training camp at Isleworth. Greens were a wee bit slower than I was expecting. I came here and the greens are different. Wasn't the best -- if I was being picky, it wasn't as good a prep as it was for Bay Hill. The greens at Isleworth before Bay Hill were concrete like glass, perfect for this. I went there last week, and they were slow and sluggish, like myself this week.
