Jaguars 25, Bills 20
Q. A little bit underneath everything that happened -- the returns before the game? What was it like --
MICAH HYDE: To be honest, since we lined up, I looked over at him and knew something was in the works and they drew up a good play. They drew up a good play. Literally straight speed off the lineup and had the whole sideline, obviously ball was thrown and it was a catch.
So like I said, Coach draws up the play, we have to execute and try to win.
Q. So many injuries going into this game for this defense and during the game.
JORDAN POYER: Micah and I were just talking about that in the locker room. It was like midway through the first, second quarter, you look out there, some of the guys normally out there are gone, Milano, DQ. But for the guys that stepped in, T-Dot I thought played really well I thought for stepping in the role of Matt.
We've just got to find more ways to get some takeaways.
We had two, definitely not enough. Obviously not enough. So continue to just find some ways to get more takeaways. It's Game 5. We've been here before so we'll find a way to bounce back.
Q. Was the travel a factor?
MICAH HYDE: No, they just went out there and played a good game. We have to give them credit. We didn't execute when we needed to, third down, we got some big stops in the red zone. But at the end of the day we have to get off the field to get the offense the ball back.
Q. Two weeks in a row -- what goes through your head?
JORDAN POYER: Honestly I just heard the news about Matt, and it's tough. You know, this league is going to move on. It's next man up. You saw last week, I went down, T-Rapp came in the game, and today Matt goes down and T-Dod comes in the game. It's really unfortunate. That's the game we play. It's tough. But you know we are praying for those guys.
Q. Everybody says next man up but a guy like Kaair, what's it like for him and what was it like, did you see, obviously playing with him today?
MICAH HYDE: I think ultimately it's his job to go out there and perform, and it's our job to get those guys lined up and giving them confidence to go out there and play well.
So you know, I feel like K stepped in and did a good job. Could he have made some better plays? Yeah, I could have, also. It's a game we are all going to learn from and bounce back next week.
Q. What did you see out there from AJ?
JORDAN POYER: Just continuing to ball, man. He's been playing well for us, and he's going to continue to play well for us. Seems like he gets his hand on balls every single week -- I've got to pause that one.
But yeah, I mean, he's just a great player, and you know, it's really cool to see him grow from year one, this is I think year three or four for him and on and off the field, his growth, and I'm excited to see him help this defense and help this team win football games.
Q. I realize it's next man up, the defense moving a guy like that, all that he does the ground that he covers out there, can you describe the impact, what do you miss as a unit when he's not in?
MICAH HYDE: It's going on seven years of experience playing together. Obviously guys have been in and out of the lineup with Davis and myself throughout these seven years. But that's a lot of snaps we've played together, communication-wise, knowing the defense, same defense.
So you know, he's out there playing fast and he's able to play fast. So you know, you can talk about next man up, next man up, it does hurt for sure, All-Pro Lineman, that's we call him because he's sideline-to-sideline making plays on the ball, and you seen it the first five weeks of the season.
We've just got to continue to give the guys behind him confidence, and you know, that's the only thing we can do at this point.
Q. Buried A little bit underneath everything that happened, Von Miller returns to the game. What was that like?
MICAH HYDE: Huge, huge seeing him get ready, he gives a lot of guys confidence including myself.
Obviously he was out there playing on a pitch count. Can't just throw him in the fire. He's going to continue to progress and we're excited for that.
