Minnesota Vikings 23, New York Jets 17
ROBERT SALEH: Only one that didn't finish is Michael Carter. He's dealing with a hand.
Q. What's your message to Jets fans who came with so much hope and might be disappointed?
ROBERT SALEH: It's a relief. We're five games in. Obviously we'd like it to be a lot better, but it's early and we've got a long way to go.
Q. What did you see in that fourth quarter?
ROBERT SALEH: Yeah, you know, credit Minnesota. They do a lot of different things. The interception, obviously, that was returned for a touchdown kind of made it obviously a lot worse but felt like from that point on, I felt like our offence kind of got its feet underneath it and started moving the ball pretty well. But obviously putting ourselves in that hole wasn't good enough.
Q. What was -- (no mic).
ROBERT SALEH: Fourth-and-one. I feel like we've got to be able to get those. We weren't moving the ball very well. We were down there trying to be aggressive and see if we can go get seven.
Q. How would you assess Aaron's performance?
ROBERT SALEH: Obviously up and down. You know, the biggest thing that we've got to be able to do, the biggest thing we talked about going into this game was playing clean ball and Minnesota had been feasting on Pick-Sixes and putting their offence in position to get easy lay-ups, and unfortunately that Pick-Six was a big difference in the game.
Q. What did you see from --
ROBERT SALEH: Yeah, Minnesota has an exotic pressure system, and a couple of those losses were in one-on-one situations that we've got to be better on.
But obviously we are always going to do our best to get the quarterback.
Q. Is there a silver lining?
ROBERT SALEH: You can always find silver linings. Not ready to talk with them now. I do appreciate that our guys battled and fought. We gave our he receives a chance right there. A chance to go score a touchdown at the game and win it, but unfortunately it didn't happen for us.
Q. Second week in a row the run game --
ROBERT SALEH: Yeah, those are things we've got to continue to work on the run game is clearly not good enough. You know, felt like coming out of training camp it was going to be a strength for us and it obviously hasn't been that way.
Q. Was it something they were doing?
ROBERT SALEH: Their pressure system, they are pretty aggressive up front and in the box. But you know, towards the end, we're down two scores going into that fourth quarter.
Q. (No mic).
ROBERT SALEH: No, he got up. When he got up, he said he was fine.
Q. Is it a function of what they were doing?
ROBERT SALEH: We go into every game trying to get him the ball. He's our No. 1 receiver and every play is designed for him to be No. 1 in progression. Felt like we just had more opportunities today to get it to him.
Q. How would you assess the defense, and how is Slauson?
ROBERT SALEH: Yeah, Slauson's fine.
I thought defense was outstanding today. We chalk it up, 13 points, I know allow 13 points, seven off the Pick-Six and three out of field position that gave it to them basically in field goal range.
Overall I thought they battled and kept answering the bell. A couple of plays that I think they all want back and a couple opportunities to get a couple more takeaways especially in the pass game. But overall, it was a good game from the defense.
Q. Any penalties you saw --
ROBERT SALEH: There was one on DJ I thought was a legit penalty but it was probably more illegal contact or holding, not a DPI. But the rest of them, I don't understand them. I need clarification from the NFL officiating team.
Q. When did -- (no mic).
ROBERT SALEH: It actually happened in pregame.
