Toronto FC 2, New England Revolution 2
Q. How do you feel about your performance today?
JONATHAN OSORIO: It was okay. I feel I could have done more, been more treated on the ball when I got the ball, still be a little bit more threatening from behind. Probably made it a little bit too predictable for the center backs. But yeah, just okay at best.
Q. Considering the lack of finishing from yourself and the entire team and New England is one of the teams you're trying to track down, does this feel like a bit of a wasted opportunity?
JONATHAN OSORIO: Oh, definitely. We definitely should have got three points today. This is definitely two points that we definitely did miss out, especially in the second half when it was just literally us, pinned them back down. We had chances on chances on chances. It was very hard for them to just break out and to really move the ball. We were literally, literally pinning them back, and with the opportunities that we had, we just missed them. But this was definitely a game that we definitely slipped up for sure.
Q. Your first start alongside Federico and Lorenzo. How did it feel to play alongside players of that caliber?
JONATHAN OSORIO: No, it felt good, especially with their caliber. It felt good. It definitely was a lot more opening for me because everybody is so focused on them two. It really allows me for more space to come in, make runs from behind. But definitely just takes pressure off of me, more of the focal point being on them.
Q. (Indiscernible).
JONATHAN OSORIO: I wanted to run on the field. I wanted to run on the field so bad. That was an amazing strike. Definitely just -- I definitely thought I was going to control it, but the way he was positioning himself, just to wind it up, and considering what he's been doing in training, like I was surprised, but in a sense I wasn't surprised how well he hit the ball. Yeah, but it was pretty good. It was a nice one. That should be the goal of the week.
Q. What did you see on the play that (indiscernible)?
JONATHAN OSORIO: I literally just beat him to the ball. Literally because it was coming on my left foot, so I knew the moment that I was going to swing, that's when he started to pull me down, and basically I just lost balance. He said, he said my friend, I thought you were too strong, but I'm like, no, no, come on, you literally have me one arm, you're literally trying to pull me down at the same time. But no, it was a great ball from Jayden, the buildup and the setup was pretty good and just beat him to the ball first, and then it was just more of like a tug-of-war.
Q. What have you made of Jayden continuing to blossom in that more central role?
JONATHAN OSORIO: I mean, it's pretty natural for him, to be honest with you, because he's so good with the speed, very technical, very clean, very solid. So I'm not surprised at the same time as if he was playing on the wing or in the middle, but continues to impress me in the midfield, still reliable on the ball, still threatening when he can dribble, beat guys, take advantage of his opportunities. I'm very happy for him.
Q. When you look ahead to the next game against Miami and even the games further, how much more (indiscernible)?
JONATHAN OSORIO: Oh, definitely. Like we're coming into Miami, we definitely want to pick up three points for sure, because just this game alone we felt like we could have closed the gap even close because we're trying to chase New England basically at this point. So definitely just the fact that we let this one slip away, coming into our next game against Miami and then the following one against Charlotte, we're definitely looking for three points, nothing less.
Q. What challenge is that on you guys mentally (indiscernible)?
JONATHAN OSORIO: I don't want to say it challenges because I think it puts more pressure on them, puts more pressure on the teams who are on top of us. I think if we come in with the mentality that we're coming to beat them, we climb the standing more and more, so I feel like they're more under pressure than we are. Just from the outlook of it, we feel pretty good about our performance, we just needed to create finishing, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to be like almost every game. We're going to finish our chances when we have the opportunity. So just coming into like Miami and then Charlotte, I feel pretty good about us.
Q. Do you mentally prefer to start on the (indiscernible)?
JONATHAN OSORIO: Whatever the starting 11 would be on Saturday, I'm mentally prepared, yes, definitely ready.
