Toronto FC 1, Columbus 1
Q. Can we get your thoughts on the goal?
DEANDRE KERR: Yeah, I saw Oso pick up the ball and it's the type of run we caught a lot in training, staying the edge of the center back and leaving just enough space for the ball to get through and also gave me a perfect pass and I was able to get an opening to shoot. It went in. So it was a great feeling.
Q. How did you find playing the nine?
DEANDRE KERR: I was comfortable. I played the nine before previous years at Syracuse. It wasn't out of my comfort zone. I haven't played there much with TFC but it's a position I felt comfortable in and I was happy to get the opportunity there.
Q. What was it like playing in front of a home crowd for the first time this season?
DEANDRE KERR: It's always a great feeling. The fans are always so great, so energetic. So we try to feed off their energy and especially tonight like a home opener, it was an amazing, amazing feeling.
Q. What do you take of the conditions? The pitch looked amazing for this time of year. What do you think?
DEANDRE KERR: It's the grounds crew did an amazing job, first of all, like for the weather we had yesterday and make the pitch look like it did today, credit to them.
Yeah, the field was a bit slick but considering the weather we had, we can't complain.
Q. Going into next week --
DEANDRE KERR: Just continue to work and work on the next one, that's our mindset. Obviously home opener, we wanted to win. We were close. Conceded late but it happened and now it's just back to the training ground and back to the video, looking at stuff and trying to improve for next Saturday and we'll give everything to get our first win.
Q. Inaudible.
DEANDRE KERR: Yeah, last year I thought was a good year for me. We still didn't do as good as we wanted to as a team. So this year, I just want to do even more and do as much as I can to help the team get to where we know we should be, which is in the playoffs and contending. So I'm just going to do everything I can to just help.
Q. The pass --
DEANDRE KERR: Yeah, it was an amazing pass, so for him to see that window, of course I'll give him credit for that.
Q. What do you think was missing today, with the chances you guys created, what do you think was the missing key to get a win today?
DEANDRE KERR: I think we did well. It was just one of those things towards the midway point of the second half and onwards, maybe we started to get a bit fatigued and they started to pile on the pressure.
But I think we had chances of our own to make it two and make it three, but that's just the way football is. You can't predict these things. It's what happens.
Q. Do you think the draw was the proper result today?
DEANDRE KERR: You could say, yeah, Columbus had their first chances. We had our fair chances. But you know, you always want to come out with the win.
So for us, it almost feels like a loss for us because we're home, we're in front of our fans for the first time. We were so close to that win and then we concede late. But again, we are already thinking about next week and we'll be ready on Saturday.
