Toronto FC 0, Chicago Fire FC 0
Q. Richie, there were chances tonight especially in the first half but you get out there have with a point. What's the feeling after a game like that?
RICHIE LARYEA: Yeah, obviously like you said, I think we -- the game almost perfectly where we were ending up in their box a ton, getting a bunch of pretty good chances.
Obviously we got some very good spots and all of that is good but you need to be able to finishing. I think we had three, four, five clear-cut chances in the second half, and second half they come out and sit deep and seems like they are happy with a tie going on with.
Obviously a still tough, but obviously at this stage we want to be winning because -- I think we played well enough. But again it's a performance I think is good in terms of making chances but we have to put them away.
Q. Inaudible.
RICHIE LARYEA: Yeah, for me, it's professional sports, so it's normal. You're going to have ups and downs and you're going to have things that come up and I think everyone has dealt with it super well to be honest, and the mood is normal. It's, you know, getting after it each and every game.
We obviously came into this big with a big mentality and looking for three points, and I think we did enough today to get it. Just, like I just said, we didn't score any goals.
So now I would say normal in a sense of where everybody is going to be disappointed that we didn't take all three points at home but also, I think there's a lot of positives to go with that, as well.
So yeah, I think it's just a normal mood as it would be if we didn't get three points. It's a competitive group and it's a team that wants to win, so -- and I can speak for myself.
Obviously I'm pissed in a sense where it's -- we didn't get the three points and we fully deserved it and with everything going on, it was almost perfect for us to get another big win at home but it didn't play out like that, and it's fine.
So we have the weekend to look forward to to be able to get another three points.
Q. As challenging as -- inaudible.
RICHIE LARYEA: Yeah, he was obviously dropping off, coming off the line into midfield just in front of our centre-backs picking it up and he obviously has very big qualities and is able to clip a ball behind and is able to make plays himself.
Yeah, obviously I think we did a very good job in terms of him not really getting a whole lot in the game. That's a credit to the guys in the back and then also the midfielders helped really well. And even over on that side, I felt like Lorenzo was getting back and was able to make him uncomfortable at times.
So I think we did well considering how good of a player he is. It was a pretty good performance defensive.
Q. We don't see behind the scenes like you do. What you just said, you seem to suggest that you guys have recovered from the last turmoil the last couple weeks. Do you feel that if that's behind you now or there's still things to be worked out?
RICHIE LARYEA: I think Bob said it on, maybe last week, I think it was, that it was discussed. Fede is obviously back in with the team, and as of Monday, we were going to start with a clean slate and that's what it's been. It's been business as usual and we were all working together to get three points today. Again, these things happen in sports that set teams back but I think we bounced back really well.
Q. Instead of Mr. Sunshine that we see, he was pissed after the Boston game. Is he back to being normal now?
RICHIE LARYEA: Yeah, he's back to normal. Again, he's a professional. He's played this game long enough. You know that whatever, he's done what he's done and now he's, again, comeback into the group in a really good way and everyone is just trying to truck along in the right direction.
Q. Why do you think -- inaudible?
RICHIE LARYEA: Probably a lot of credit to my teammates around me. Everyone is helping me play to my strengths right now, especially the coaches. People are able to find me good spots and I'm able to get for it, defensively, as well, playing with guys like Matt, I've played with Shane and Sigurd, and even Aimé, I think they are helping me a lot with communication and all that type of stuff.
So yeah, I think preseason was good for us to get to know each other with a very new team and also for guys, not just me, but everyone on the team is determined to right the wrongs from last season, so I think I've taken the season I guess personally you could say in that sense and wanted to push forward from what it was last season, and credit to my teammates and coaches for helping me do that.
Q. Bob highlighted things that Lorenzo -- what do you make of his game, like this game and last game?
RICHIE LARYEA: Yeah, he's obviously -- I think he's always been good but in particular, last game and then leading into this game, he's running more than most of us on the field now, which is good. We need him to do stuff like this. We need him to be very impactful, him -- both him and Fede.
So getting this both of these guys is what we need because them at their best level will be the best layers in this league, and they know that and we know that. So it is nice to see Lorenzo have a performance like this, and I think Fede has had performances like this as well across the beginning of the season up until now. So I think it's good for us to get the most out of these guys.
Q. Your last performance before joining with the national team, do you have any idea what your future will look like or what you will want it to look like following that camp?
RICHIE LARYEA: I'm just taking it day-to-day to be honest. I'll look forward to the Minnesota game this weekend and then yeah, just take it easy. I'm not looking too far forward right now. I'm just focused on the Minnesota game this weekend and getting three points and once that's crossed over I'll look to the national game and then -- national team and all that stuff, and then back here for another game and yeah, we'll just go from there.
