Montréal 3, Toronto FC 2
Q. What do you take from a game like that tonight? There were some moments that weren't so good and there were some moments that were good. Do you come out of this game with the glass half-full or half-empty?
FEDERICO BERNARDESCHI: No, it was for sure a tough game. And for me, the first 20 minutes, we played very good. We were aggressive on pressing. And at the first shot off other team, they scored, and mentally it was tough because the moment, it's tough, and when the other team scores, you're thinking, and this is normal, okay, in a tough moment. After five or ten minutes, another goal. But we were inside in the game for me. We continued to play. We continued to be aggressive, and this was good. Unfortunately tonight was a derby, and we needed a victory, a win, but we lost again, and we are frustrated.
Q. Two goals for yourself tonight, also first goal that the team scored in over two months or so. What does this do for your confidence and the team's confidence, getting on the score sheet tonight?
Look, if I score, score the other guys, it's important for me to win the game. To go out in these moments, we need to go out because we worked very hard in the last two weeks, three weeks. We don't deserve this for me. The team don't deserve, the guys, the young guys. We have a lot of players with experience, and we know this is football. This is normal. Sometimes you go up, sometimes you go down. This is the life, okay. But for the young guys, it's tough because when you lose the game, every time, your confidence by ourselves is low, and us, the experienced guys, we need to help the young guys all together like a team to go out of these moments, a hundred percent. I am happy about the goals, but if it didn't help the team to win, it's not there.
Q. It's been about two months since Terry took over. In your opinion, have there been improvements? Obviously it's still a work-in-progress but have you seen improvement?
I think it's different coaches, different approach, but the past is the past. We look at the present, and we want to go out about this moment. This is the most important. Terry, for me, works very good to help us to get out, and we need a win for covered in ourselves and to get up in this movement this is the most important for me.
Q. It's been a difficult season for everyone, probably more difficult than you thought it might be. Do you see light at the end of the tunnel? What has it been like for you?
For sure, it's another season, and we want it, a hundred percent. At the start, at the beginning of the season, we wanted to win and to be more close to the playoffs, a hundred percent, but this is the reality. This is the real moment and we need to look at the real moments and we need to work and we need to keep going and come together like a team, work out, because for me, in my experience, when you pass the tough moments, the best solution is work out and don't stop thinking about outside, focus on the team, focus on work, and you exit out of the tough moment, a hundred percent.
