Charlotte 3, Toronto FC 2
Q. Prince, two goals for you tonight, a wonderful performance, but I wonder if it's a little bittersweet for you given the result and not being able to pull out the win after conceding a late goal.
PRINCE OWUSU: Yeah, it's tough. It's tough. We wanted to win this game. I came from the bench and I tried my best to help the team. I think we played a good game. Away at Charlotte, we knew it wouldn't be easy. We knew it would be a tough game. But how we respond -- and after making those two goals, say -- tell a lot about the team. We don't give up. But this is tough. It's tough. We really put the shift in today, and showed up to the game. Obviously the atmosphere, it was not that good. But I can say with the -- we keep doing our game, how we want to play, and trusting the process. Yeah, of course, it's really tough. We will figure out what we did good and whatnot so good, and play better the next game.
Q. I think that's three goals in your last four outings for the side. What's working for you? Are you just finding your spots and getting a feel for the team or what's your take?
PRINCE OWUSU: I would say as a striker, you have to be always calm and trust in your abilities and your game. I knew I would get my chances. I knew if I be in the box, I will be in a dangerous spot to help the team. This is what I tried to do today and in all my games, and yeah, thank God I could score two goals. For me personally it's a good feeling. But at the end of the day, we lost the game and that's the most important thing, and the three points, as well. I can't be that happy today.
Q. It's now three losses in a row. I'm curious as to what the mood is like within sort of the rim amongst you and your teammates?
PRINCE OWUSU: It's tough. Of course people are disappointed, angry, and sad. But this is -- the start of the game, beautiful and also really, really hard. I think we deserved one point today and, yeah, Charlotte punished us with one mistake or one chance they had. They took advantage of their momentum. We had a couple momentums before on our side. But we didn't use it. If you don't use it in an away game, especially char hot, you get punished.
Q. John mentioned some positives in your performance, including your brace, but how do you and your teammates keep that in the back of your mind and with the long-term focus of improving?
PRINCE OWUSU: Absolutely, we trust the process. We trust the game and our strategy. And we know -- we know what to do and with the game plan what we try to follow and of course, you play sport, you make mistakes. When a team has this quality to punish you, it's tough. We didn't make a lot of mistakes today, and it shows that we made one mistake too much and that's why we go home today with zero points. But this game doesn't break us. We November we have quality on this team and showed us our quality in the long term of the match and try to keep going. Go into every game with this mindset to win against any team and we are going to stick to it.
