Nashville 2, Toronto FC 0
Q. Thanks for taking time to speak to us. Tough way to lose a game especially in a difficult place like Nashville. Your general thoughts on the team's performance overall tonight.
TYRESE SPICER: I think overall we had a good performance. Until the 80th minute, we were really tight as a team and committed to the the clean sheet but we lost focus in the last ten minutes. I think that definitely -- we didn't come up with a point. It's unfortunate we couldn't come up with a point and disappointed with the result.
Q. A night back in Tennessee, talk about how the lead up to the game went for you?
TYRESE SPICER: When I got here, I got to meet up with some friends, my coach, my coach took me back to my school and I got to meet my students and teammates and staff members. It was really nice. It's a second home. I played here for like three years in college. It was good to come back here and see everyone come and support me, and I just felt like I just had to go out there and just -- for myself, I think I did well today. I had a big task -- and I did a good job.
Q. Your performance tonight showcased great strength and footwork going up against Shaffelburg. How do you feel matching up against the Canadian international?
TYRESE SPICER: He has a lot of experience and he's a good, dynamic player I would say. I was up to the task. I believe in myself and I just have believe that I can do. He, John said that you have the quality to match his speed. I was just focused on being a step ahead of him I think. My teammates did a really good job after him -- second half, I think I did a good job and I think John should be happy with my performance and I'm happy with my performance as well.
Q. Saturday night was a pretty wild ending to that game from where we were watching. What was it like being on the field?
TYRESE SPICER: I was not involved in any of those allegations or stuff. So I don't know -- the league did what they had to do.
Q. Given everything that happened after the game on Saturday and the suspensions and John not being on the touch line today, did that affect the mentality or the frame of mind of you and your teammates going into the game tonight?
TYRESE SPICER: No, not at all. Not at all. We had the assistant coach, Eric, we had Terry, we had all the other coaches -- our state of mind for the game, mentally we were there but we shut off in that last ten minutes, maybe watch the game, 80 minutes we had a good performance, aggressive, dominant -- but definitely with John not being there.
Q. Busy month of May continues on Saturday against Montreal. How are you looking to take the positives from tonight and push on to the next one?
TYRESE SPICER: Yeah, like Lorenzo said, we just go on to the next. Take a look at the positives. There was a lot of positives if you look back at it. I just think that we look forward to that Montréal game. It's going to being a derby game. It's my first derby game and I think it's going to be a very aggressive high tempo game, playing at home, BMO Field in front of the fans we want to entertain the fans. We have a good mindset. We'll go back to the training ground and practice and come out there strong and get that three points on Saturday.
