Columbus 4, Toronto FC 0
Q. Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. Hopefully fatherhood is treating you well. Tonight's game, what did you think of the team's overall performance?
RAOUL PETRETTA: I think first half we were a little bit passive. I think and the chances we had to counter, we didn't do well. But when you play against a team that loves to have the ball, to be brave with the ball, be aggressive against the ball and brave with the ball, I think first half we were not good enough with the ball.
Q. It's been a tough stretch for the team. I was wondering if you could take us inside some of the conversations and inside the room, what are you guys talking about?
RAOUL PETRETTA: It is a tough moment for us, for everyone who works for the club. I think the only way out is to work hard together and to stay together in all moments now. I think we have a good opportunity on Wednesday to go back on the winning streak, even if this game will not be easy. Because they know we are in a tough moment, they are going to come strong against us.
So I think it can be a good opportunity to go back to a winning streak, but I think we have to be good in this game because it's not going to be easy.
Q. Let's talk about something positive. What's it like being a dad?
RAOUL PETRETTA: Everything. It's the best moment in my life. To hold the baby for the first time was so emotional for me and like I said before, the best moment in my life. So I'm really enjoying the time at home with my family now. And I try to help my wife with everything and that's it. Just like I said before, I really enjoy every moment with her, and hopefully she's healthy for the next month.
Q. John deployed you in a more central midfield role tonight. How did you feel playing outside of your natural position?
RAOUL PETRETTA He told me yesterday in training that I'm playing this role. I played this role before when I was younger. I had some games in the midfield. Like I said before, we were not good enough with the ball where I can show my quality with the ball. That's why a little bit I think I struggled a little bit with the position with the ball. Defensively I think we were not that bad in the first half. Of course, we were deep, but with the ball, yeah, even me, I struggled a little bit to find the right position to play, to help the team come out with the ball.
Yeah, that's the thing. Because I was not like used to it but I don't want to have excuses. It was not a good game for me. That's not about position or something. Just we were not good enough today.
Q. You mentioned the game on Wednesday, does the fact that it's a different competition and a chance to compete for a trophy or to continue that quest for a trophy put the last couple weeks in the back burner and just wipe the slate clean?
RAOUL PETRETTA: Yeah, exactly, like I said before, it's a good way and a good game to come back. Like I said, it's not going to be easy, but this trophy, it's a Cup game, it's going to be a hard game. We want to win this trophy, so maybe a different competition gives us a little bit of power for the next MLS games.
But like I said before, we have to be prepared for this game because like we have two days to recover now and to be back on top on Wednesday.
