Russell Wilson

Visitors Postgame Press Conference

Broncos 21, Jaguars 17

Q. With the way the last four weeks have gone, how nice was it to come from behind and pull out a road win in London?

RUSSELL WILSON: Well, I thought it was huge for us. Obviously to be in London, to come out here this whole week, it's been a spectacular week for us. We prepared better than ever, I think. We battled. We knew we were going against a tough team.

They've got a lot of great players and young guys that can really play. I think that was important for us. But just to overcome, be resilient. Obviously the season hasn't gone the way we've wanted it to, and it's not over yet. There's a lot more to do. There's a lot more we want to accomplish. But every win counts.

The game didn't start how we wanted it to, obviously, but to be able to answer back, we were down 10-0, come down the field, we picked up the tempo a little bit to be able to answer back, then sure enough defense made another stop, we came back again, we kept swinging.

It was kind of like a heavyweight fight. Just got to keep going, keep swinging, keep getting up. That's what we were able to do.

The fans here in London were amazing. Obviously our Broncos fans traveling, they've been great all week for us, just the NFL fans in general. I've played here before, once before, and it was amazing energy, and they matched it again, once again tonight.

What a blessing to be able to go back home with a win that everybody is going to celebrate.

Q. The Jags (indiscernible) one play here or there. You talk about the game-altering plays. You guys clearly made those tonight. What did you see there?

RUSSELL WILSON: Yeah, I mean, I think that we've been in every single game. This season could be completely flipped around, and the only way we can flip it around is ourselves. We've got to keep answering the bell.

I think the thing that happened tonight that was really special, guys were making plays. We changed the tempo. We went up tempo and knew we had to get going here. We went up and down the field with that. I think also two guys made some spectacular plays. Dulcich going down the sideline. I think also Melvin Gordon getting in. The line did a tremendous job on that block down there.

Beck slamming his guy, and then Melvin getting in on that touchdown. Then I think our defense, you know, Sims coming up with a huge stop. They were up 7-0 and he comes up with a huge pick. That's a game changer for us because the score could have been 14-0.

Just we kept believing. I think J Sims and I, he's standing over here but I think the thing that we keep talk about is unwavering belief. Unwavering belief, not wavering.

I think -- I don't think, I know, that's what happened tonight.

I think also, too, when you come back to those plays, I think, like I've been saying all year, anytime you're playing close tight-knit games, those gap plays, those game altering plays are everything.

KJ, I told him on the sideline, hey, be ready. I'm going to hit you down the field. Sure enough, he ran right by his guy, hit him down the field, and I think Murray scores again. I think he scored two or three times here in London this year.

But it was a special game. I've got to give credit to the O-linemen, just for us 3rd down conversions I think Jerry Jeudy early in the second quarter it was he broke away. He caught a big play, next thing you know we score a touchdown. He scores a touchdown, Jerry Jeudy does.

The 3rd and 1s, the 4th and 1s, all those kind of plays like that to be able to convert those were big in this game.

Q. Does this feel like a statement win?

RUSSELL WILSON: Well, I think through adversity, adversity is temporary. I've never shied away from pressure. I think that you've got to look right at it and keep going and keep believing and stay the course.

What I do believe is with our team, just catching so many momentum. Every season I've ever played you've got to catch momentum. There's a moment in time where it clicks, and hopefully that's the start of it.

But we still -- the great thing is we still control our own destiny by how much work we put in and the dedication we put into this, and a lot of great games ahead. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Q. ...the first quarter, Hackett said he came up to you and said, just take a breath, calm down. How much did that help you going into the second quarter?

RUSSELL WILSON: Well, you know, when you're competing, sometimes guys make a play. I don't blink. Just to be able to know there's a lot of game left. We've got a great defense, can trust those guys and just keep balling and just find a way to make those plays.

I think at any time something negative happens, it's really about how you respond. Do you respond with frustration? Do you respond with confusion, whatever, or are you able to respond and get clear really quickly?

For me playing all these years, you know when there's ups and downs, to be able to respond with clarity and just focus on the fundamentals, focus on the first step, focus on the rhythm and the timing and everybody making plays.

It was a great team effort tonight.

Q. You lead the team in high knee exercises?

RUSSELL WILSON: Yeah, I got high knees on the 3rd down. We got one of those. While the guys are playing Uno I think we all have to -- no, I think more than anything else, I think I want to play with these guys, man, every time we get a chance to step on the field.

How hard these guys work every morning, how hard we all go after it every day, it's about playing. Anytime you get this gift of playing this game, you do anything and everything to make sure you're out on the field.

Q. You're wearing a local jersey. Any advice for them going through adversity?

RUSSELL WILSON: Yeah, I watched the game last night. Obviously Liverpool is one of the best soccer teams in the world. Just being able to watch them over the years States always kind of whenever they're on, always put it on the TV. Shoutout to Liverpool.

Q. When the ball is on the 2-yard line start of the second half, good time to catch momentum there?

RUSSELL WILSON: Yeah, we went into the huddle and told the guys, hey, listen, we are going to go 98 yards right now. Believe in it. Believe in it. Believe in it.

First play, Dulcich makes a great catch, gets 15, 20 yards. Next thing you know we caught that momentum and just went all the way down the field. That was a huge drive for us.

You know, the defense gives us a lot of belief that we can do that, too, because they're doing everything they can to get the ball back for us. That was really key.

Q. (Indiscernible) describe your connection.

RUSSELL WILSON: Yeah, he's been really special. When I first threw the ball to him the first day -- you known when you've thrown as many footballs as I've thrown for as many years as you've thrown it, the first three throws you can tell, okay, he's got it. There's something to it.

He's definitely got some freakish ability. Obviously he was out for a while, the first several weeks, few weeks, but to get his ability and catching the football like he can and all the things he can do is great.

Q. You've been with the team for a few days here in London. You know London well. Is there one thing you've learnt as an individual or about the team in the time you've been away? People always talk like it's a mini training camp --

RUSSELL WILSON: Yeah, I think the first thing that we did on that Tuesday night when we got in, we all had dinner together. We kind of went out, just kind of let loose a little bit and just had some fun.

I think that was kind of the kick start, I believe, to just a great week. We had a good time, guys had a great time laughing, enjoying it. Just the gift of playing this game, it doesn't last forever, so to be able to do it with guys that you love, guys that you care about, that's what matters most.

I think that allowed us to have a really great week of practice, and coach Hackett did a great job of allowing us to get our bodies adjusted this whole week and just kind of get going.

And then Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, we just kept soaring throughout the week, and obviously Sunday we came up with a huge win.
