Jaguars 27, Raiders 20
Q. Second half, what was the difference? What happened with the offense?
DEREK CARR: Yeah, I mean, we were calling certain things for him and they were -- they doubled him on some plays too, and so we thought we saw what they were doing the first half, saw what they were doing the second half.
We felt comfortable in playing, and it was just a couple times where he would have had big plays. I had to run out of the pocket and try and throw it to him and we didn't hit him.
Q. What's the feeling on the final two drives when you go on the field. It's an area you've been so successful in the past. How confident are you you guys are going to be able to go down the field?
JOSH McDANIELS: I was very confident. Main thing for me is just trying to hit my receivers. Just if I have to move in the pocket or got to do something, just find hands to throw it to. Within the progressions and all that stuff.
But really just positive plays. And so my confidence in those situations, I never feel any different. I'm not like worried ever in those.
Q. Third time you guys have blown a 17-point lead this year. Any similar stats or feeling that you can look back on?
DEREK CARR: You know, I think there is a lot I want to say, you know, but if I'm honest, I don't need to say it here. There are things that will be said. There will be things that need to be addressed and all these things.
But I think as whole, the urgency part of it, after 30 minutes of football we have to learn that the game is not over. I feel like I've been in this situation a lot where new coaches or this or that and you have to teach the new guys like this is how we do it and this is the mentality.
And that gets tiring. At the same time, it's my job. There is some of that. So I'll say that right now for those things. But there are things in-house that we'll talk about man to man and all that kind of stuff that could be addressed.
Q. Things you addressed this past week or...
DEREK CARR: I'm not going to lie, I thought they were. Felt confident. We had a really good week. But like we always say, having a really good week doesn't give you a win on Sunday.
Gives you a chance. If you don't have a good week then you have no chance.
So I thought so, yeah.
Q. What was the message to the team from the captains this week as you guys were working?
DEREK CARR: Yeah, there was stuff that obviously I won't share based on some of the things that were said, but really just trying to have that sense of urgency and the stamina to do to the whole time, right?
We've shown spurts of being a good football team, but showing spurts doesn't get you wins. Have to do it all the time. Good teams do it all the time and we have not done it.
