Jaguars-20, Titans-16
Q. Hey, Trevor, I've got to ask you about post-game. Midfield Doug is hugging you, whispering in your ear. What was that moment like for you? I mean, seriously.
TREVOR LAWRENCE: You made it sound a little weird, but (laughing), no, it was great. Just the excitement that obviously I had and still have right now and Coach. Just how this year has gone and the ups and downs and just the belief that we've had the whole time.
You kind of saw it all come together today and even just how we had to win the game. It wasn't always pretty, but just found a way to win. You know, just told him I loved him. I'm appreciative of him, just what he has done for this place obviously. It takes more than just a coach, but what he has been able to do for this organization has been incredible and just excited for the future.
We get another opportunity to play next week. I know all that means is we get to play again next week, and there's not many teams that get to say that at this point. I guess after tomorrow night at that point.
So just excited. These guys, you know, we earned it. It was a tough year as far as just having to climb out of that hole we dug ourselves. It was awesome.
Q. Back to that hole, does that make it more, I guess, special that you won it this way after falling, what, 2-6, 3-7 at that point?
TREVOR LAWRENCE: Just what we had to do to claw and fight our way back into the hunt and give ourselves a chance to win the division tonight. We had to do a lot. You know, we had to win a ton of games down the stretch. We were able to do it. We never lost faith or belief in ourselves.
Really how we got here was just taking it one week at a time, and that's -- I mean, that's the message especially this week. You only get one week at a time. I think that's exciting for this group because we've been so good at that the last two months of just one week at a time, just keeping one foot in front of the other, keep stacking great days. We gave ourselves a shot, and we went and took it tonight, so it feels really good.
Q. Where were you on Josh's touchdown, and emotionally where were you at that point?
TREVOR LAWRENCE: I was sitting there really getting ready for, you know, thinking they're going to punt it or get the ball back and just getting ready to have to go win the game, our offense to go down the field and go score to win the game.
So I was just kind of getting my mind right thinking about that, and then I think I was looking at that play when it happened, and I saw Rayshawn coming off the edge. I mean, just honestly just jaw dropped and kind of speechless. Just defense bowed up.
I mean, we're in it together, and it's us. It's all about everyone. It's not about one specific guy, one side of the ball, but defense won us the game tonight. I think everybody saw that. Offensively we struggled at times. Didn't really get in a great rhythm.
It was here and there we made some plays, but we've got to play better to give us a shot every week. But our defense...
That's what good teams do, though. You're not always going to be clicking on all cylinders, and our defense really had our back tonight. They've been flying around playing great, so it's fun to watch.
Q. With what last year was, does that make being at this moment that much more special?
TREVOR LAWRENCE: Definitely. I just think this whole journey from where we were to where we are now and to earn this opportunity to go play in the playoffs, it's special. You ask a lot of guys that have played for five, six, seven, eight plus years and a lot of guys have only been to the playoffs once, twice, three times in their career.
When you think about that too, it really puts it into perspective that it's not easy to win in this league. And especially to do what we've been able to do the past five games and give ourselves a chance, that's really hard to do.
So I'm just proud of the team, of the staff, just everybody, all the work that's been put in to be here. It's taken a lot of work, and it's going to take more to keep going, and we're excited for that and ready for it. But, yeah, it makes it special for sure.
Q. I know you probably haven't had an opportunity really to give this too much thought yet, but you've played in a lot of high-level, high-leverage football games in your life so far. Now you're on to the playoffs in the NFL. Probably the highest yet. Where are your thoughts on that? Kind of how do you feel about stepping into the arena for another really huge opportunity?
TREVOR LAWRENCE: I'm excited. Just for this team to get hat opportunity to continue to show who we are and just, like I said, just to get a chance to play again. The field gets whittled down next week and get a shot to play. Whoever it is, it's going to be a good team coming in here. Just excited for that. Like you said, played in big games.
So it will be a good challenge for us, but I'm really excited to get another opportunity. We've got a lot of stuff, like I said, to clean up. We definitely didn't play anywhere close to our best ball, especially offensively, tonight. I'm excited to kind of watch the tape and get back to it and clean up some things.
Q. You've played in a lot of big games before, big atmospheres. What did tonight what the fans showed you, just how they filled everything out, what did that tell you about the fan base here?
TREVOR LAWRENCE: It says a lot. Just how the fans have rallied around us this year as this season has gone on, and obviously late in the year like we've been playing. To see the stadium packed tonight was awesome. One of the best game environments I've been in, honestly.
It was special. They were loud all game. It was really, really cool. It was a cool experience. I'll always remember that, so hopefully we do the same thing next week. We're going to need it. It will be fun.
Thank you, all.
