Josh Hines-Allen

Postgame Press Conference

Jacksonville Jaguars 17, Houston Texans 10

Q. Hey, Josh, just start to finish today you hit Stroud on the second play I think from scrimmage they had and obviously end the game on the deflection. Where does this one rank for you in terms of getting the win over Houston and how well you played throughout the entire game?

JOSH HINES-ALLEN: I mean first and foremost, man, my teammates, we battled our butts off today. We knew it was going to be a take-it game. That was going to be an offense, defense, special teams, whoever, whoever is going to be in that moment at the last second, we were going to have to take it. So I just want to give all credit to God and my teammates, man, they battled their butts off. For me, I just did my part, tried to stay one play at a time and just do what I can for my team and I saw an opportunity and, yeah. We ended the game the right way.

Q. Josh, nine turnovers already forced through three games this is. You had nine in all of last year here. Has Coach Campanile some brought some new stuff to the thing, to the system, or are you guys just able to make more plays?

JOSH HINES-ALLEN: I think it's a little bit of everything. The play calling is obviously more aggressive but then we also had guys in the back-end that's in the right spot, wants to be physical at point of contact and they just want to play for each other. Once we all buy into what we're doing up front, good things happen, obviously. Good things are happening. We trust each other. Rushing, we trust even other a lot. Devin Lloyd is playing out of his mind right now. Him and Foye both. So if each level guys are playing at a superstar level, we'll be a tough team to beat.

Q. Josh, Coach Coen said you were a little bit emotional in the locker room. Is that because of the history with Houston or the way the defense was playing? What...

JOSH HINES-ALLEN: Emotional before or after the game?

Q. After the game in victory.

JOSH HINES-ALLEN: We just got a win, that was a tough win. Again, it's so hard to win in the National Football League. The mentality I have been wanting to come into this week was we got to take it. Last week we let that slip away and we didn't take it and here was another opportunity for us to go get it and so for us to go out there and prove that we are that type of team, we do have -- we're building something very special here. We got to keep capitalizing off that.

Yes, I was very emotional. Huge win against a good team, nevertheless, but it's just a great building point to how far can we go and move on to next week.

Q. Hey, Josh. Can you talk a little bit more about that? This is the kind of game that you guys have really struggled to win over the last two seasons and to get one. What does that do mentally for the confidence of this group going forward?

JOSH HINES-ALLEN: It's huge, man. I feel like going into each game, we expect to win. We put the work in every single day. We trust the process. We trust each side of the ball, offensively, defensively, special teams. We just trust each other and so to go out there and to prove that point that we are a close-knit team and to go out there and fight for each other, just get it. It's just a wonderful feeling and we're going to have to building on it but next week is a different task and different opportunity and we got to go about it a little bit different. Just keep the main thing the main thing.

Q. Did you get the ball with your right hand or your left hand?

JOSH HINES-ALLEN: My right hand, I think. I don't know. (Laughter).

Q. Josh, congrats on the victory. Last year you guys lost to this team twice. Is it a confidence matter this time around to do that and to beat them? And secondly, take us through the last drive. They made a fourth down conversion to keep the drive going. What's going through your mind as they're driving down the field? What kind of calm do you have during that?

JOSH HINES-ALLEN: So those are two different countries so let me try to remember the first one. The first one, I mean, last year was last year. We're building a whole new different regime here. The guys that we brought in, the guys that we drafted, the guy you're about to talk to after this, our guys really bought into this organization and we just play for each other and, again, like I just told him, man, it's a week-by-week league. It's a take-it league and we're at that mindset of taking every opportunity we can.

Second question, being in that situation was just like we got to take it. We got to get it. No matter the situation, they wasn't going to score. That was our mentality. They're not scoring. They can drive the field, whatever they want to do, they're not scoring. We just made a play and Antonio was in the right spot, being where he's supposed to be and took advantage of the opportunity. I can't be more proud for him and come back Monday, watch this tape and move onto San Fran.

Q. Josh, this is probably the third game in a row where Jourdan Lewis made a pretty big play, two of them that resulted in wins. What has he meant to this defense? And you talk about confidence, being able to have a guy like hip on the team, how has that helped the confidence of the defense?

JOSH HINES-ALLEN: He's huge, man, I gained a lot of respect for him the first week of practice. The way he attacks it. The way he pushes and motivates and challenges everybody in his room and outside the defense. For me, as a guy that's been here and I kind of carry myself the same way, to see that and to see a guy make a lot of plays just makes me want to become a better player. So I think he just pushes the guys that we're at that guy to become a better player and just, you know, I'm not surprised now. It's like I expect him to do these things not because he is who he is but because he does it the right way. He challenges and pushes and motivates the guys to do it the right way as well.

I'm so happy for him. I'm happy that he's on our team. I know he's glad and proud to be on our team and to be a Jacksonville Jaguar and create a culture here that we can build on and set a standard for ourselves.

Q. Hey, Josh, it seems like you guys got pressure pretty consistently today. What does this performance say about the guys you have up front and the unit you guys have built up there?

JOSH HINES-ALLEN: I think coming into the week, Coach Camp challenged up front. He said it's going to be -- we're going to rush four and we're going to drop else and so for us, it was just like we got to go hunt so I think starting out Wednesday's practice, our mind mindset was we got to go. We got to attack. We got to prove to them and prove to everybody else in our defense that we can take advantage of games.

So today was just, you know, just a carryover from Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and now Sunday to where we can just go at it and to prove the point that we can just rush four and we also can blitz. You see what happens when we blitz. We get turnovers. We change over the secondary disguises. So Camp has done a great job of listening to us up front and he's calling a heck of a game and I wouldn't be -- I love playing for him. I think we all do, too. So we got his back.

Q. Thanks, Josh.
