Jourdan Lewis

Postgame Press Conference

Seahawks 20, Jaguars 12

Q. Jourdan, just from your vantage point, how would you evaluate how the defense did today?

JOURDAN LEWIS: We didn't win. So, yeah, that's number one. When you don't win, any other evaluation really doesn't matter. Our process went good this week; but at the end of the day, we didn't execute to our best ability. It was still some plays out there that me personally, I wish I'd have had back. The touchdown, look back earlier and things like that. Get my chance to help the team win.

So, yeah, those little plays we need to get nipped in the bud. But it wasn't good enough to win.

Q. Did it seem like it came down to maybe just a couple of those explosives, the 61-yarder and then the one near the end of the game?

JOURDAN LEWIS: No, I felt we wasn't on our Ps and Qs to start the game. We were behind the 8-ball from the beginning. We weren't on our communication and executing to where our best ability. Let some big plays happen and little leaky yards happen.

Q. Jourdan, how would you evaluate the play of the corners rotating at the other two spots?

JOURDAN LEWIS: They fought back. It's really hard when you have -- that type of position is all about confidence. So when you're going out there and rotating positions, it's hard to find your footing. I feel like we did good. I feel like we fought back and limited big plays in the second half. Just wasn't good enough.

Q. Where do you guys go from here? Is it a good time to maybe get away and have the road trip where you guys can maybe figure some things out?

JOURDAN LEWIS: It's still preparation time. We have a game to play verse a very good opponent. That only makes it even more challenging so that means we have to be on our Ps and Qs when we go out there in London. That means just re-locking in and knowing our process has to be refined. We've got to get this win.

Q. Jourdan, how much do you think this is just a football team trying to figure it out as well, and how much -- not that you like to lose, but can that kind of lock people in, sense of urgency, all those things like you did coming off Cincinnati?

JOURDAN LEWIS: We need a sense of urgency before the game. That comes with preparation. We need to have a sense of urgency every time we step on the field.

That can't be an excuse, that we're a young team and we're still coming together. We play really good ball. We understand what we're capable of. We've just got to go out and execute and understand that we can't go out and play just one half of football. We've got to go out there and play a cohesive game for 60 minutes together.

Q. Jourdan, I guess everyone had wondered what it would look like when the defense wasn't able to get turnovers. So how would you break down today?

JOURDAN LEWIS: That's our life blood. We need turnovers. We need turnovers to win games. I honestly feel like we could have got a few good turnovers and gave the football back to the offense in advantageous positions. That didn't happen.

Like I said, guys fought. We fought back. It just wasn't good enough.
