Travis Etienne, Jr.

Postgame Press Conference

Jaguars 36, Colts 19

Q. Travis, you guys obviously got the run game going. What were some of the keys from your vantage point of having such a successful day running the ball?

TRAVIS ETIENNE, JR.: The O-line being physical. I feel like the O-line really was just intentional, just attacking the trenches. Anytime I get behind those guys, it's a great day.

Q. Being able to score twice, once from long range, once from short range, even joked this week about not getting a lot of the one-, two-, three-yard ones. How good did that feel?

TRAVIS ETIENNE, JR.: It just feels great when I can go out there, my teammates and coaches count on me, putting me in the position to make the play. Anytime I can make the play for the team, that's great.

But like I said the other day jokingly, man, that second one did feel much better than the first one. Three all feel great because it's really hard to score in the NFL. Anytime I've got a chance to go out and play, man. I'm happy for the opportunity to make the play for him, make the play for the team obviously, take care of the ball and being reliable for my teammates.

Q. What's it like to be part of something where you're putting teams away early? 28 points in the first half. Totally took advantage of the defense's takeaways and used that to score touchdowns.

TRAVIS ETIENNE, JR.: It feels great. We're building the mentality where the game is never over so we've got to continue to just keep playing. We can't come out there the first half, have a great game, and fourth quarter just lose our mind.

We know how that feels. The Texas game, that haunts me every new win. I'm just thinking about that game. I know the team is thinking about that as well. We've got to go out and keep finishing and playing for four quarters. It's the NFL. We're professional players. Everybody gets paid to play the game. We have to finish and have the attacking mindset each and every play.

Q. What can you say about the edge you've been playing with?

TRAVIS ETIENNE, JR.: Give a shout out to Coach Coen. He does a great job having us ready for Sunday. We go out there and feel like ourselves before the game. We can kind of go out and play with the edge. Everyone is feeling healthy. The best effort, that's why we're able to put things on the field on Sunday.

Q. Coach said you guys are playing like people are disrespecting you. Do you think people will start respecting you now that you're atop the division? Do you want that, or would you rather have everybody disrespecting you every week?

TRAVIS ETIENNE, JR.: At the end of the day, I feel like no one likes us except for us. I feel like it just goes along with just being in this organization, what the organization has been for quite some time. We're not going to get the respect. We kind of don't even care. As long as we know what we've got inside the locker room, and we can go out there and take it.

It's no better feeling that being disrespected and having an extra chip on your shoulder, playing with an extra edge. It gives extra motivation each and every Sunday. We kind of know what it is. I've been here, it's my fifth year. It's been the same song.

No one's going to paint us to be the person to win it all. We've got to go out and take it. I love that. Coach Coen plays into that and gives us that edge. He's a great motivator. That's why we go out each and every Sunday and have the extra edge.

Q. How much of an extra boost does the offense get when you know the defense is going to get turnovers? They're taking the ball away.

TRAVIS ETIENNE, JR.: That's real great. Just seeing Devin going out and have the interception. It's great, just knowing that. It's complementary football. When they take the ball away, we have to go out and score points. The first drive didn't go the way we wanted to, in and out. But Dev made a great play so now we've got to score points. That's how you get better. You've got to get points off of turnovers. That's what great teams do. We were able to capitalize off that.

Q. What are some of the ways that Liam instills that edge? Multiple guys have talked about that. When you think back to early on, how does he stoke that?

TRAVIS ETIENNE, JR.: Just do things throughout the facility. Just, like, I remember this week going through the facility just seeing pictures on the TVs, just what where we are in the division. How everyone talks about everyone else besides us. Subconsciously, you might not think about it, but it plays in the back of your mind, especially going into the game.

Just his speeches Saturday night before the game. Coach says smoke is smoke. I love he has that mentality, and it trickles down to us as a team.

Thank y'all.
