Florida 29, Texas 21
Q. What did you think of the level of physicality that you guys played with tonight? It seemed right from the start the offense set the tone, the defense. You guys seemed to really play -- this is as physical as you've been all season.
DEVIN MOORE: Yeah, this was probably the most complementary football game we've played this season, and in practice we've been stressing that. We knew as a team if we put it all together, we'd be dangerous, and that's kind of what happened tonight.
Q. You've seen Dallas Wilson since he got on campus. Tonight was a breakout performance. What stands out about him and his ability to kind of handle the spotlight and thrive?
DEVIN MOORE: Yeah, that was no surprise to me. Since day one he stepped on campus, he was the guy. Just covering him in practice, he was making incredible catches. Going against him one-on-one, it's a fight for me. It's a battle. I've got to bring it every day.
Just seeing him finally get the opportunity, getting healthy and everything and going out there, it wasn't a surprise, but he had a great game for sure.
Q. Devin, it looked like the DBs were very active as far as blitzing from the outside. You got a sack, Sharif was in the backfield. How much of that was you guys wanting to do that more or just game planning for Texas, and how comfortable were you guys in that role?
DEVIN MOORE: Yeah, when you've got DB pressure, it brings a different element to your defense. That's something that opposing offenses have to prepare for. So just adding that to the arsenal of our playbook, it helps a lot, creating different looks for the quarterback. You don't know if pressure is coming from here or there. So it's something we definitely want to keep in the playbook.
Q. How good did that sack feel?
DEVIN MOORE: Yeah, my first one, man. I've got to go to Coach Chapman and work on my pass rush moves, but it definitely felt good.
Q. Second year in a row where you guys have kind of rallied around the coaching staff and so forth and picked up a big win. What does it mean in terms of having this kind of performance, and what makes this team rally around the coaches when there's a lot of adversity?
DEVIN MOORE: For sure. One way I'd describe this team is muddy. Muddy and gritty. No matter what happens we're going to go to work on Sunday after the game and get it right. We have 110 percent trust in Coach Napier that he's going to put us in the right positions to make plays.
Q. Earlier this week Coach Napier challenged this fan base to create as hostile of an environment as they possibly could. Obviously Texas had six pre-snap penalties. What does it say about this fan base to rally behind you guys, even when the season is not off to the best start?
DEVIN MOORE: Yeah, pure loyalty. As players we have pure gratitude, and Coach has pure gratitude for this fan base, staying loyal, showing up, making the Swamp one of the hardest places to play in. That had a big effect on the game.
Q. So many young guys on the D-line who held their own against a veteran offensive line. Talk about that, please.
DEVIN MOORE: Yeah, you know, them young guys are straight dogs. I see it in practice every day. Coach Chapman, he gets them guys riled up, before games, during practice. Just being able to sit outside and look at them put the work in and it showed up on the field, it's a great feeling to see.
Q. For you a sack and a pick all in the same game --
DEVIN MOORE: Yeah, like I said, I've got to go work on my pass rush moves with Coach Chapman, get in with those young D-linemen and try and learn something.
Q. I thought in the first half it kind of set the tone for your offense because they were playing a great game of ball control. How refreshed was this defense, and how different was it compared to previous weeks? The offense pretty much kept you off the field and kept you fresh.
DEVIN MOORE: Yeah, it's definitely amazing just having some time just to take a breather, things of that nature. But as a defense we stress no matter what situation we go into, we've got guys on defense that are head hunters. No matter where we're at, what time of day it is, what situation we're in, we've got to be ready.
The same goes for offense.
Q. What did you see on the interception, and how did it feel for the secondary to come up with those plays today?
DEVIN MOORE: Yeah, so on the interception, I seen the off-the-ball tight end. He went back, so I had weaved inside. He was trying to sell me on a post, and as soon as he broke, I speed turned, and then it's just second nature; you've got to go get the ball when it's in the air.
Q. That was coming right after a sack. What does it mean for you to make plays like that in a game like this, especially given everything you've been through?
DEVIN MOORE: Yeah, it means everything. Just being able to be out there with my guys and celebrate when we make plays, it's priceless, especially after all the injuries and everything. Just seeing young guys make plays, old guys make plays, it's a great feeling.
Q. That was your first career sack here at Florida; how did it feel to get that one?
DEVIN MOORE: Yeah, it felt amazing. I was very hyped after it. Like I said, I'm not content with my pass rush moves. That's something I've got to work on and go to Coach Chapman about.
Q. Can you remember the last time you got a sack in high school?
DEVIN MOORE: I don't think I ever got one.
Q. This is your first ever one?
DEVIN MOORE: First one ever, probably since Pop Warner.
Q. How meaningful was it to get the pass rush going? After the first couple weeks you weren't having the results you were looking for. How much can this propel the unit forward?
DEVIN MOORE: For sure, when a D-line takes over the game like they did today, it makes our job as DBs easier. It's a great addition to the game for sure.
Q. Arch Manning, what were your impressions? You guys got the better of him, four sacks, two picks, but he also ran -- what were your impressions on his ability to scramble, there was the one drive late where it was boom, boom, got them in the end zone, and he showed something, too.
DEVIN MOORE: For sure, yeah. Good quarterback, like you said, dual threat. When you think you've got him you don't got him. He can roll out, make plays. Being able to plaster is very important when facing a quarterback like him, and like that late stretch you said, him not getting down, him just coming out there drive after drive and trying to make plays happen.
Q. Obviously Aaron last week and Dijon both went down with injuries. How important was it to get this one out of the way to know that you guys can play without them and some of the younger dudes to step up today?
DEVIN MOORE: For sure, it was very important. I told those two guys in the huddle before the game, I said, we've got something more to play more. This isn't about us no more. Those guys sacrificed blood, sweat and tears, and the season was taken away from them like that.
We're carrying that chip on our shoulder and playing for those guys for sure.
Q. You got insane cover skills, but you cover him on a daily. I know you touched on it, but how of all the guys you've lined up against, how difficult is that beast over there?
DEVIN MOORE: Yeah, so he got sneaky speed, but he's also a big body. Those 50/50 balls, they're more like 30/70 if you're not in a good position. Just being able to stay in good position and he can snap it down, a very versatile player and receiver.
Q. Who wins more?
DEVIN MOORE: I don't know, that's something for him to decide. I'd say 50/50.
