Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Riyadh Golf Club

Jason Kokrak

Quick Quotes

Q. 5-under, can you talk me through how you felt out there?

JASON KOKRAK: Honestly I didn't really know what to expect. I felt pretty good the first two days I was here. Obviously time change a little bit for me, but back home in Cleveland, I don't get too much outside practise. So the grass is nice. So I get to play off grass.

So I didn't really know what to expect. I've been kind of grinding a little bit on my golf swing and changed a few small things but felt really nice. The ball was coming out where I was looking. I hit it really close the first couple holes. Just didn't make anything. Made a couple on the back nine. Just kind of kept playing along. Didn't make any drastic mistakes besides my 3-putt on the last.

Q. How have you liked returning to the Saudi International, a different golf club this time?

JASON KOKRAK: Yeah, Riyadh is an amazing city. So it's nice to be in kind of a city, as opposed to where we were at before at Royal Greens. But nonetheless, treated like royalty here. Take great care of us, and it's nice to be back.

Q. Is there anything on the golf course you think suits your game, any holes in particular?

JASON KOKRAK: You know, I think I could take advantage of the par 5s, depending on -- wind dependent. I don't think it's supposed to be very windy for the rest of week. If you hit it in the fairways here and don't get yourself in too much trouble, you're going to have birdie opportunities. And so if you can make a few putts outside of the ten-foot range, you're going to have a pretty good score.

You know, keep the gas pedal down and just try to see where we're at with 54 more holes to go.

Q. The wind kind of got up at the start and died down a lot?

JASON KOKRAK: It was not was as windy as, when we played before. It's very, very windy, 20- to 30-mile-an-hour winds. Coming here, this is really nice. Great climate. A little dryer than what I'm used to. With the wind down, you can definitely take advantage.

The wind was not too bad this morning, or I guess we tied off at 11.50, this morning, but yes, it did die down a little bit. But you know, with a little bit of elevation, it's still a little bit of a guess. We did a nice job of staying patient. Just didn't make a whole lot of putts out there. Made a couple coming down the stretch, though.

Q. And there's a lot of people out there new to golf. Is that quite fun to have a good vibe?

JASON KOKRAK: I know golf here is relatively new, not too many golf courses. But an immensely great game for this country and I know they are trying to grow it exponentially. I'm good friends with quite a few of the guys that are trying to make this quite a big game here in Saudi. So I'm looking forward to it, and it's been very nice since I've been coming over here.
