Quick Quotes

Q. 16-under, top of the leaderboard, talk us through your day?

ANNE VAN DAM: It was very fun. We started very early and we got off to a really good start. Elena was playing amazing on the front as was Pasqualle. We made a ton of birdies and had good individual round. Overall we made a lot of birdies and it was fun out there.

Q. You were middle of the pack picking the team and you picked a Dutch woman, Pasqualle, what was the tactics with that?

ANNE VAN DAM: It was my only choice. For eight years I've been playing all by myself on TOUR and we finally have another Dutch girl out on Tour. Me and Pasqualle know each other very well from my amateur days, playing for the same club, so it was an easy choice.

Q. James, you're the Amateur in the group, you're off one but playing solve scratch, no shots in this tournament so far. Your every day job is being a player manager. Were you managing the player or were they managing you?

JAMES DUNKLEY: They were definitely managing me for sure. It was a joy to watch these guys play, incredible for me. Tough out there for me but a joy to watch these girls play, the accuracy, brilliant.

Q. It's a unique format, not only are you playing an individual tournament but it's a team event and trying to make birdies for yourself but also collectively. How do you approach that two-in-one format?

ELENA HUALDE: I get so happy for their birdies. When you're playing with your own ball, but with this way you want to do them so well. You always want to do it so well but it's extra exciting when they have a good shot. I really like this format.

Q. I think you're both 4-under. Tell us about your round today?

ANNE VAN DAM: It was good, a little bit of mixed bag. I think I had four bogeys, those were definitely not my best shots but them I made a ton of birdies out there so that was nice. I mean, the course definitely was scorable today. It was hardly any wind. I didn't think the pins were too tough.

So it was definitely -- you could definitely create some chances and yeah, especially today I'm happy with the early round to get a good score in.

PASQUALLE COFFA: I was playing quite solid from the beginning, a lot of birdie opportunities, and I just kept patient and I holed, I think, two or three 20-footers for par in the beginning which kept me going and gave me some confidence for the rest of round.
