Quick Quotes

Q. Nelly, well done on a 67. Plenty of birdies out there, an eagle.

NELLY KORDA: Uh-huh.

Q. It was a solid opening round. How do you feel about it?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, I played pretty good. Unfortunately I made a double. Lost my ball off a tee shot somewhere in the trees. It's still somewhere there.

Then I missed four-footer for birdie on 18.

But other than that, it's solid. Hopefully I can building off that.

Q. Yeah, it's all about momentum. It must be been very difficult for you this year because you took time off following surgery after a blood clot. You're back into your golf. Four months off must have been quite frustrating watching everything that's happening. I bet you're pleased to be out here again?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, super grateful to be out here playing, competing, traveling. It's the little things, a different type of perspective.

But, yeah, it sucked sitting on the sidelines, but I'm grateful that I can be out here now.

Q. How has your mindset changed? What's different about that perspective?

NELLY KORDA: I think you just are a little bit more grateful for just being able to travel, exercise even. Going for walk, everyday life.

Q. You got to be grateful being here because how stunning is Spain? This is one special venue.

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, for sure. It's my first time in Spain and it's blown me away. It's pretty nice.

Q. Who is going to win this week out of you and your sister, Jess? Both sisters over here. Head-to-head you must be keeping score, but is there sangria at the end of it?

NELLY KORDA: Hopefully. Probably a few after these walks this week. Yeah, I mean, we'll see what happens after this week. We'll have some fun on Saturday.

Q. Great solid start. Well done.

NELLY KORDA: Thank you.

Q. Just quick for you, how much do you enjoy the energy of the Aramco Team Series events? Seems like great atmosphere on the range this morning. How much do you enjoy that?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, it's super fun when it's a little bit more relaxed, and it's definitely a unique tournament that gives you a little bit of a different perspective on golf, too.

Q. And do you think when you get back to the States you'll tell your Americans how much you enjoyed your travels to Spain and Europe?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, for sure. I have really enjoyed it here in Spain, and hopefully I can cap it off by having a great week, too.

Q. What do you think about the course?

NELLY KORDA: Hilly.

Q. Hilly?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah. I was joking that I lost my ball on literally the worst hole, on No. 6. I was so tired by the time I got to the top that I just had to -- I had to give myself a moment before hitting my tee shot.

It's very hilly, but it's also very beautiful.

Q. Did you imagine any different course when you came here, before playing?

NELLY KORDA: I was told last year that it was really windy and very hilly, so I was expecting it.

Q. You had a chance to visit Finca Cortesin?

NELLY KORDA: I have not, and I don't think I will. I don't think I have enough time.

Q. Why not?

NELLY KORDA: The rounds are long. I'm pretty sure we played over six hours today, so all I'm going to do is go to bed now. Rest and go to bed.

Q. But you're still coming next year?

NELLY KORDA: Hopefully, fingers crossed.

Q. It's time for the Americans to get back the...

NELLY KORDA: It would be nice to take it back home, yeah.
