Quick Quotes

Q. How do you feel about coming back here?

TALOR GOOCH: Yeah, obviously it was a great year here last year. I mean, the week, not even counting the win, just the environment, the atmosphere, it was great. Excited for all of it. Excited to be back and try to defend. Excited to be back in this crowd and in this country. Just all of it, it's exciting.

Q. Those twin 62s, had you ever had a better 36 holes?

TALOR GOOCH: No, no chance. That's going to be hard to ever replicate, that's for sure.

Q. What do you think was the -- what was going on those two days?

TALOR GOOCH: I was hitting everything close. I think I made one putt outside 10 feet in the two days. It was just one of those twilight moments where everything was close, and I was making a bunch of those five- to ten-footers, and it was just a perfect combination.

Q. How much are you able to draw upon those two rounds? Have you been able to since then?

TALOR GOOCH: Yeah, for sure. I've shot another final round 62 in Jeddah, so there's moments like that that I just -- all those little experiences where you have extreme success, it helps build that foundation of belief in yourself. There's always going to be moments -- we were talking about -- I played nine earlier and we were talking about some of the shots on the holes, some of the putts I made, and there were just those moments that stick out that you're going to be able to draw back on in tough times, like I did it then, I can do it now.

Q. Is there one moment from last year that sticks out in your mind, whether it's a shot, whether it's walking up 18 with the crowd behind you, or is there something that you kind of go back to and that brings a smile to your face?

TALOR GOOCH: Yeah, there's not just one, there's many. Obviously the one that -- the image that sticks in my mind because I've seen it so much is walking up 18. But the moment was on No. 11, I made about a 20-, 25-foot birdie putt that kind of helped soothe the ship. It was a big putt. It was a big moment that once I made that, I kind of knew, I've got this.

That moment is one of those big moments that isn't one that sticks out probably for others immediately, but for me, that was big.

Q. Coming here, is there something about the course itself that you felt like just really plays to your strengths?

TALOR GOOCH: You know, I love the grasses around here. It's very similar to the style of grass that I grew up playing with the greens being bent greens, the fairways being Bermuda, how they are. For me, I love bent greens, and we haven't played bent greens this year yet, so I'm excited to get on some bent greens.

Q. Do you feel you're going to getting it again? Are you feeling internally like, I may be ready for another run? Do you feel like there's some things you're still working on?

TALOR GOOCH: Yeah, you always work on stuff, and never do you really expect to go on those type of runs. But I've gotten off to a better start to the year this year than I did last year, and I know I'm a better golfer now than I was a year ago, and hopefully we can just figure out how to catch fire again.
