DANNY LEE: It was a little different than Monday through Thursday practice rounds. Greens got way firmer. Some of the downhill putts with the downwind, it was hard to hit. But I want to say I wasn't playing like perfect golf. I was out of position a couple times. Whenever I did that, I grind it out for really good pars and it was good, the whole round.
Q. Given how things have gone the previous three tournaments, how nice was it to come in with a round like this?
DANNY LEE: Yeah, it was a big change. I mean, we grinded out and tried so hard. Even my finish as Nashville, I was trying to have a different new driver swing and we were testing out all the stuff. Just keep grinding. When it's your time, I think if you just keep grinding out, you can follow through and hopefully give you a little surprise or a gift from the gods, I guess.
Q. Is this a surprise?
DANNY LEE: No, not really. It's definitely giving the sign of I'm moving into the right direction. I try not to think about -- I would like to finish top 24 to end the season, but only four events left, which means I can still do it. Just need positive weeks and make it happen.
Q. Was there a moment out there today that gave a specific shot or something like that where you felt like, all right, I'm dialed in today?
DANNY LEE: I was feeling like that for a long time during the practice round, to be honest, even at Nashville, I felt like I was dialed in. But I really wasn't. My teams are trying to figure things out and I'm just happy to see I'm back on the right track and just got to keep my head down and just keep doing what I'm doing.
Q. Last time I looked, you were the only here --
DANNY LEE: Dean has been playing incredible.
Q. Still, you've got to be really happy.
DANNY LEE: We needed to see this and we did, like Bryson would say, only place you can go up from rock bottom, that's what we did.
Q. Did make a lot of changes (to your bag) this week?
DANNY LEE: Yes, new irons. Go back to the broomstick putter. And new driver. Just like get up on like distance and all that. Just trying to go back to neutral as possible and try to be consistent as possible.
Q. When is the last time you used the broomstick?
DANNY LEE: Last round at Nashville. I shot under par.
Q. So you switched between the second and third round?
DANNY LEE: Yes.
Q. Is that hard to do mid-tournament? Obviously not for you.
DANNY LEE: Not for me. I tinker with equipment so many times. My caddie sometimes yells at me, quit playing around. Stick with it. I listened to his advice. It's working.
