THE MODERATOR: Let's welcome Scott Vincent and Kieran Vincent. Welcome, guys. Scott, I'll start with you. 8-under par round of 63 in round 2 of LIV Golf Promotions. Can you talk us through your round today?
SCOTT VINCENT: Yeah, very nervous, very excited to get out there and compete.
The thing for me today and kind of these past few weeks has just been practicing not having any needs. Like I don't need today to go well. I don't need it to work out the way I want it to. Just go and play golf. That was what I was working on all day today was just trying to get myself out of the way, get all the situations out of the way, the ifs and whats, and just go play golf.
Obviously the score worked out great today, and I know it's not a magic formula, but that's kind of the approach I'm trying to take to tomorrow.
Q. Kieran, same question for you. 6-under par round, safely through to the final rounds of LIV Golf Promotions. You qualified last year at LIV Golf Promotions. Are you drawing on that for tomorrow's 36-hole final?
KIERAN VINCENT: Yeah, I think obviously like what Scott said today, it's obviously good to post that number and see that you got that in you, but unfortunately you wipe the slate clean and start again tomorrow. So fortunate enough to be in this situation previously, so yeah, we'll try and draw on some of that, try and conserve energy for tomorrow because it's a long day, action packed, so anything can happen. But yeah, obviously just excited to have this opportunity, to be able to have -- even if it is only one spot, it's a cool opportunity to put yourself in a good playing situation and try and see if you can win that coveted spot.
Q. You've both obviously been there, done that, got the tee shirt from LIV Golf the past couple of seasons. What would it mean for you both to play your way back on for LIV Golf 2025?
SCOTT VINCENT: Yeah, it would be amazing. But like I was saying earlier, I'm going to be just fine whether this works out tomorrow or not. Obviously there's going to be 20 players, and whoever does play the best, that's how this works. He deserves to be there.
For me, of course I'm going to go out there and compete and give it my absolute best, but I'm going to be just fine either way. That's the approach I'm using.
KIERAN VINCENT: I've got somewhat of the same answer. Obviously this whole year is just life-changing. I never really expected that at the age of 27, being able to play against some of the best in the world.
Obviously we want to be back there. We try and do everything we can. That's the reason we're here, to try and be back in that situation again.
I think just the longevity of your career and the longevity of everything, like if we miss it this year, it's not going to stop me from still playing golf. I'm still going to try and compete at the highest level, still try to do the best I can every time I tee it up, so it's going to be no different tomorrow or going forward.
Q. You've both played a lot of golf on the International Series. There's 10 spots up for grabs on the International Series, as well, next year. What kind of a platform was that for you leading into your LIV Golf careers and whether you play it next year or play those events with LIV, what kind of an opportunity is that for you both?
KIERAN VINCENT: Yeah, obviously International Series, this is my second year being out here, and it's just been an awesome experience to be able to play against the best in the world, and so this has been a unique situation.
I was actually thinking about this a couple of days ago. I think about two, three years ago when I played my first International Series, I remember coming over to Singapore and saying to myself, hmm, I'm not so sure about this whole Asian Tour. I love it, it's great, but it's just not for me, I think I'll stay to America or stay somewhere else.
But someone else has a bigger plan and bigger situation for me, and so just being able to find myself here just absolutely loving the whole experience the last two years that I've been out here, it's nothing short of amazing, and it's springboarded my career to where I'm at right now, and I'm super grateful for everything that's happened on the Asian Tour and International Series?
Q. I'm curious what conversations have been like between you two, maybe talking about how this year unfolded for both of you and obviously maybe some game planning or discussion about coming into this week. I'm sure you guys have talked about it. What's been the conversation between you two?
SCOTT VINCENT: The year is not done yet; what are you talking about?
No, it's just like life; every day is an opportunity to learn something. This year I don't think either of us would say that we've performed our best. I think we might have played some of our best golf, but the performance and the results are a completely different aspect to it.
We've got a great brotherly competition between us. Of course I want him to do really well, but at the same time I want to be just one step ahead of him, and I'm sure he wants the exact same thing. Without saying it, that's just how it is. But at the same time, I want him to thrive and go on to achieve amazing things because I think he can.
We continue to push each other in different aspects, but at the same time we're sharing an apartment this week, and we've been hanging out more than we ever have in the past year, and it's great because there's a five-year gap between us, and growing up that was a little bit too far for us to get really close, and then I go off to college and then I finish college, and then he comes in -- so we didn't really get to spend a lot of time, and this year has brought us much closer together.
I got to make fun of him at his wedding about a month ago, which was awesome. But yeah, just doing life together is great.
KIERAN VINCENT: Yeah, I don't recommend the whole staying together if you're a brother thing. It's not quite working. He might think it's good, but you know.
I'm going to say a lot of the same things that he said. Obviously we love each other. We want the best for each other. We want to compete at the highest level. If it's not you, it's him, that kind of attitude.
Obviously it's super cool to be playing out there looking at leaderboards and seeing your brother up there. You can't script it any better than that.
Yeah, he did make fun of me during my wedding. I think it's just pay-back for me making fun of him at his wedding a couple of years ago. We've been enjoying this time. It's nothing short of amazing. Not many opportunities to have your brother playing with you at the same level, at the same place. Being able to do life with each other, you can't script it any better. It makes it easier for the family to travel with us as long as we're not two separate sides of the world, so we're at the same place, so it's been awesome to be able to spend a lot of time with family and together.
Q. Between the two of you, you've pretty much utilized every way to get on to LIV Golf. It's almost like you're LIV Golf survivors.
SCOTT VINCENT: I'm not in control of that. (Laughter.)
KIERAN VINCENT: Yeah, it's a unique way. That's the whole --
SCOTT VINCENT: Who has the better haircut right now, because I got a Saudi special yesterday. I think it's fantastic.
KIERAN VINCENT: You know it's bad when you have to say, hey, it's fantastic. I think that's just discrediting the amount of points you're getting.
But yeah, as I said, we've done the journeyman kind of way of getting to LIV Golf, but that makes it so much sweeter being out there, being able to compete and just having that.
Q. What's the difference between when you've played in Jeddah and Riyadh? What's the difference?
KIERAN VINCENT: More people in Riyadh, longer trips back to the hotel.
SCOTT VINCENT: Yeah, Jeddah is an up-and-coming spot. The golf course is fantastic. I really love that golf course. There's just not a whole lot around there yet. Of course Riyadh is a very established city with lots of people and lots happening and lots of good restaurants. There's a big difference from that standpoint.
This golf course is another up and coming golf course, as well, just like Jeddah is as a city. It puts up a great fight and challenges you in many different ways, and I think it's only going to continue to get better as they continue to change things and adjust things. It's a good challenge, and whether it is or not you've still got to go play it. That's just golf, and that's what we get to do.
