L.A. Galaxy 3, San Jose 1
Q. Joseph, first MLS goal, how does it feel?
JOSEPH PAINTSIL: For me, I never knew, because I never knew it was Clásico. But for me, it not something that's really like a pressure thing.
So for me, I'm really happy that I score my first goal, it really means a lot to me, and also because my sister and my mom told me I would score today and just keep faith, and the moment just happened, I think about them. So I want to say a big thank you to them and the fans and everybody.
Q. Talk about playing alongside Ricky, great player. You guys seem like you already have a connection?
Yeah, even though I'm not on the club for so long, but football is all about how you play, how you decide, what you need to do Ricky is such a wonderful player that always look up to those kind of passes and everything.
So me playing alongside Ricky is a great connection, and as you can see, it's like we've played almost a season before, and yeah, so playing alongside Ricky is a great thing for me and for him, and his style of play is really going to help me a lot with my pace and also to give me the ball.
Q. You've had a goal and an assist today, and you just joined the team. Where would you say your level is, and what do you look forward to --
Like you said, being on the team for at least two weeks, and me with the level, it's the same level because it's -- inaudible -- before we started the season.
So to this moment, it's really a good thing for me to achieve in my first goal for such a wonderful club. It really means a lot. As you can see, I'm smiling a lot. It means a lot. Yeah, as time goes on and as we keep playing, it's really going to be really strong between the players and the new players. As you can see, it's already bonded. So I think we are in a good way as a team.
Q. A lot of MLS pundits or pundits in general are not really placing the Galaxy too high in any playoff picture at the end of the year. Does that motivate you or teammates, is it even mentioned or do you do your own thing?
It's okay. It's okay. We are okay. We don't want to be mentioned now. But the more we are mentioned, the more we are making progress. So the more we are getting close, the more they will start to mention us. So now that they don't mention us, it's okay. We've just being the Galaxy and do what we need to do. The more we win, the more they will talk about us.
Q. You mentioned last week that even though the other team tide that you didn't feel the team has the quality -- I think your phrase was kill everything. Galaxy fans loved it, they were really looking for that kind of killer instinct. Is that the way you approach your game is go out there and kill it, kill everything?
Yeah, for me, that's the No. 1 thing. Even in training, I always want to be on my game. Even if the team isn't going well, we always try to solve things as a team because we have a good group, a young group, also, as you can see. We keep the ball a lot in the game. And yeah, it's really a good thing. As you can see, the players are also really hungry for success as you can see. We did everything together and if we keep playing like this, also, at the last game, we are really going to kill a lot of clubs, a lot of clubs, trust me.
