LA Galaxy 2, New York City 0

Q. John, one thing Greg talked about Saturday was finding a way to close out a game 2-0 or whatever, 3-0, whatever. What was the key tonight, do you think?

JOHN McCARTHY: Yeah, it was just a good, all-around team performance. I think even on Saturday it was a good, all-around team performance. Just teams are going to get chances and sometimes they score, and tonight we are fortunate enough that they didn't put one or two in the back of the net. But I think both games were just a good all-around performance going forward and defending.

Q. Your thoughts with Jalen, he's been back for about a month or so, been gone for a while but back again, and he had been out for a long time. What are you seeing in him coming in? Seems that this team is defending well at the moment.

He's a good young center back. I think everyone saw the glimpse in him over the last two years before picked up a few injuries. He's catching stride. He's a good kid. Plays well. When he gets his confidence, I think he's a really good center back. I think he has a huge upside, and that's another reason why he plays because he needs the experience as a young player and he needs the minutes, and he's getting them and he's doing really well.

Q. You're missing Riqui, you're missing Gastón, Perez is out, and you seem to be filling those holes nicely and you're gaining momentum while those guys are gone. Does this win feel important to continue that momentum?

Every win is important. It doesn't matter if the three guys that you said are in the lineup or they are out of the lineup or three other guys are in or out. Every win matters and you just have to take it one game at a time. You can't look too far ahead. Now we watch a little film and get on to this weekend, Salt Lake.

Q. That was going to be the next question. You guys have not won three games in a row since Greg has been in charge of the LA Galaxy. Is it important to be able to string not just three, but four and five? I know three is an arbitrary number but the fact that you guys have not been able to do it this year or last year, are you guys thinking about that at all?

I have not thought about it until you just said it. I'm a day-by-day, game-by-game guy. I think these guys in front know that from talking to them over the last two years. It's just onto the next game. You just play to win and see who is in the lineup and see you are playing against. When you can get on a win streak, that's awesome. A lot of momentum can go your way and great things can happen. Two down, and now got to take care of the weekend.

Q. (Off-mic.)

It's a good question, I don't know. Yeah, I think taking it day-by-day is something that the group has really instilled because you can't affect anything, two, three -- three days, four days ahead, five days, a month. You can't affect that. You have to worry about today and you have to train on today. You have to play in the moment today. Every player counts and every moment counts, and I think the group has really bought into just being in the moment. You can't look far ahead.
