LA Galaxy 2, Minnesota United 1
Q. You guys under pressure, can you talk a little bit about absorbing that pressure and what you guys had to do to keep them from doing more than they did?
JOHN NELSON: Yeah. We knew they were going to sit back a bit, et specially at the start of the game. It's going to be a bit of fatigue, sloppy, but, no, I think we did well for the most part. We gave Pukki that chance, he came down the middle and he did well. He's a class finisher and you give space like that to a good finisher and he's going to punish us, but for the most part, I thought we were fine absorbing all the -- of course we were, I don't want to say lucky at the end, but a goal's a goal and a win's a win, so.
Q. John, you get the chance to come in because Aude's injured and you got the start. How have you seen your inclusion in the offense and the defense come as the season has progressed and as you've gotten more minutes?
JOHN NELSON: Yeah, I think I'm getting better every day. I know the start of the season with how Greg likes to play, the left back a bit higher, tucked inside, especially when Riqui likes to come put the ball lower so you have to change spots with him, but, no, I think I'm getting a lot more comfortable in the attack. Today I thought I was really good defensively and even getting attacked whipping in some balls. I think it's something to keep improving on and keep going.
Q. Sometimes a win's a win and you take it and you one away. Do you goals feel maybe, hey, lucky or not, you got the ball in the back of the net, take the three points and move on?
JOHN NELSON: Yeah, 100%. To be honest, I think we know it should have been 3 or 4 nothing. Before they even scored. We were a bit sloppy in the final third in holding the ball up, but like you said, a win's a win. It's the third game in a week or eight days so we'll take it.
Q. You guys are coming off a loss to LAFC. How important is this for the bounce-back and where do you see this team and its level? Are you guys firing at the highest level you have? How many more levels do you guys have?
JOHN NELSON: Yeah, after the LAFC game, we knew it wasn't good enough, especially that first half, and Greg said in the locker room after, you know, hopefully it's not a big speed bump, let's just keep going. We can't drop points at home. We need to keep going. We can't get a tie or a loss at home. I think we're still building into it. We showed really well these past few weeks how many games we can win in a row, but going to keep going and keep getting some guys back healthy and flying, so, yeah.
Q. Congratulations on the win. We saw you coming into the mid field quite a bit today. Was that something by design? Is that something that you enjoy doing, getting into the offense like that?
JOHN NELSON: Yeah, like I said earlier, I think it's something I'm getting more comfortable especially how Greg likes to play. If Riqui comes and goes to the left back spot, for example, you tuck inside, it's hard for the other team to defend, but, yeah, I think I'm getting a lot more comfortable with it and getting balls in there you can turn, drive at them, it's really hard to defend, so, yeah, that's what Greg wants, so.
Q. I'm sure you've seen the play by Maruicio. You see those guys that train all the time Cerrillo what have they brought to this group?
JOHN NELSON: Yeah, it's awesome to see the young guys contributing, especially the guys -- Edwin's getting a lot more mines now but the guys that haven't been getting a ton of minutes, staying after, putting in the work, grinding every day. So it's awesome to see them getting minutes. Maruicio, he's done well. He's done well in training and now he's had a goal three games ago and now he's had a nice assist so it's cool to see he's contributing and he's doing well in training so it's awesome to see.
MODERATOR: Any questions?
JOHN NELSON: Thank you.
