Vancouver 2, LA Galaxy 0
Q. These of tough games whenever you have to travel on the road with the heat and everything that goes along with it but what was the reason that you guys were not able to sort of meet the tempo of the game today?
MAYA YOSHIDA: Well, at the beginning is no excuse for the defeat. They play midweek and traveling as well, and the heating is the same as them.
For me, it's no excuse, and also, no one deserve to say anything about, yeah, the reason to defeat. We defeat.
Yes, it's a big pain for us. We couldn't control the game. Just only want the opportunity for them and we conceded, and well, after we conceded, we have to go front and everything changed. That's exactly what they wanted.
So yeah, it's very good for them to manage the game and control the game instead.
On the other hand, on the other side, we couldn't make any different, we couldn't dominate them. So very disappointed but very focused on the next two games, next two home games that we need to get the six points definitely. That's the main target so far now.
Q. We've seen when you look at games against Chicago and Austin and now Dallas, we've seen this team be slow in the first half and not react to the situation that you guys are in, only getting one shot on goal without Dejan again today. Is there an offensive problem? Is it a tempo problem? How does this team slip into these little funks on the road, especially?
Well, I don't separate attacking and defending because it's all connecting. A good defense make a good attack, and a good attack makes a good defense, and also, especially when we lose a ball, we press high, in the first minute we can get it back. Those are the kind of things we are missing today. Maybe same Austin or Chicago.
I agree with you. We couldn't make a good performance against this team. That's why at least we need to get one point probably in terms of the situation or circumstance, and this kind of environment, as well.
Q. You guys have a game this Wednesday coming back at home. How important is it to bounce back, and also, too, you guys are still in the fight tore top of the Western Conference. How much is that in the back of your guys' head with the loss?
Always saying that good team never defeat two times in a row. That's most important, and we need to come back, like after against LAFC, we showed a great performance home again. So the same things. If you want to achieve something, we have to contribute more, and everybody have to work hard and stay humble. Probably that's the key. And tactically, shouldn't be changing anything. But we need to put more effort and we can get a better result I hope.
Q. I just wanted to ask you quickly, you've been with the club for a year now. Just the travel in MLS this season, the congested schedule, you've played a lot of minutes this year. Do you feel like it's a lot? Do you feel like it's too much? Just curious to know your perspective on this.
For the fixture, you mean?
Q. The fixture congestion and everything going on, especially since they are moving Leagues Cup later compared to last year.
Well, there's a lot of times, three games in one week. That's really tough. Especially only the two days in between is really tough. I think most of the competition in Europe, even Japan, they try to not make two days in between, instead it's three days.
The last game we play on Sunday, but probably because of TV rights and some other games against baseball or maybe football, I don't know.
But this doesn't make any different for tonight's defeat. So we have to accept and understand why we lost today. Again, it's no excuse about this, today's defeat.
