LA Galaxy 4, LAFC 2
Q. He had win, when you got the ball, how quickly did you know you were doing that?
EDWIN CERRILLO: I didn't really think about it to be honest and I was just surprised it went in, and I didn't know what to do after that.
Q. First half, Galaxy wasn't very good. In terms of what you were doing in midfield, in terms of what was going on in midfield, how would you kind of compare what the mood was like, what it was like that your job had to be in the first half when they are pretty much controlling it and the second half that you guys take over?
EDWIN CERRILLO: I think the game plan was the same. I think we just came out a little flat, a little -- just not on the front foot and they had two breakaways that we know they are dangerous, and so we conceded in that way.
In the second half, we just came out with a lot more energy, a lot more intensity and intention, were the two words that Greg brought up after. We knew we were down 2-0 but anything is possible here at home.
Q. How did the job --
EDWIN CERRILLO: To be honest I feel like I had the same job. In the first half my job was to be more central and have Riqui and Marco kind of in half-spaces, but we didn't get them the ball enough. We didn't bring him in the game in the first half, as much as we'd like, because he's very dangerous and helps us out a lot. And I think going back to what I said, the second half, we knew it was a matter of urgency and we had to all step up.
Q. You received an ovation as you were subbed off and you received the LARS Man of the Match tonight. A lot of love from the fans. How did all of that feel and how did it make you feel at the end of the game?
EDWIN CERRILLO: It's always a special moment because I needed a change and I think a year ago today, I wasn't very happy, I guess. Having that moment in such a big game, especially with my family here and getting -- just looking at all the people with so much passion, I try to reciprocate that in my game and I try to give it a hundred percent every time.
I hope the fans see it because I definitely give it my all. But it's nice to know that people appreciate and just -- sometimes my job is kind of under the radar, and that's okay with me. But when people show appreciation, that feels good.
Q. Knowing these are the top two teams and you had not beaten LAFC this season, what confidence does this give you heading into the playoffs?
EDWIN CERRILLO: I think we want to play the best. We want to play the best teams out there. We knew we came from two losses already with them and even the first two games, we go out with intention and we go out to give it our all. We didn't get the results we wanted in the first two games.
We knew at home we've been undefeated. Unfortunately we go down 2-1 but came out in the second half and gave it all for our fans. That's really important for us, and we know that in the playoffs, anything can happen, especially in this league, and we want to make sure that we have our playoffs here because our fans give us the energy.
