LA Galaxy 3, LAFC 3

Q. Maya, just can you walk us through the last, what, 20, 25 minutes? 3-1, to go 3-2, there is mini rumble going on; a red card; ended up getting a point today.

MAYA YOSHIDA: Yes. One point, good one point. It's derby. It doesn't matter the position where we are now.

But to be honest, I feel like the goals we conceded were too easy. That's exactly what they wanted to do. Every time same. Bouanga, counterattack. We have to manage that. That was very clear, and we didn't make the proper job and we got punishment.

Luckily today we could come back, but obviously they are -- they look so tired after they play Cabo Cup and travel to Minnesota mid-week.

We should play much better. We need to -- as I say after win DC Unit4ed maybe, we need more consistency and not too much up and down through the season, during the game. There is too many careless things.

That's why we are here where we are. Of course, I can't be happy for the season so far, but we still have a chance to go to the playoff. Next game is very important again. Every game is important now for us.

It's Houston away in August -- no, July still. Wow. But good thing is my daughter doesn't like LAFC so at least I can go home with smile and hopefully she's going to be proud of me, yeah.

Q. Do you feel like you earned a point or do you feel like you stole a point today?

MAYA YOSHIDA: We earned a point. As I say, how we play, we should play much better, especially for ourself. Two goals they made is exactly what they wanted, and we are to be clear that we have to be careful with that, and we didn't manage that. As I say we got punishment.

Yes, but I take positive side of course as always. We show great spirit and the goal I score was great comeback, a good score. But at the same time Mauricio has delivering long time a lot great balls through the season and during the training as well, so I trust him and I believe him where he put the ball.

Also Christian brought another centre backs to the first ball so I had space. So this is my goal, but also the whole squad contribution and showing great spirit, so we need to keep going.

Q. ...lose points and lose games right at the end of the games during this season, to win a point like this, given how the last five minutes, eight minutes, especially after the mini brawl and against your biggest rivals, just how does that feel?

MAYA YOSHIDA: Again, the derby is different. Of course we drop many points like San Diego and San Jose also, but we still hang in there, and as I said, we still have a chance, possibility to get playoff.

Maybe.

So this is my main target. And as I say, we need more consistency and keep -- maintain our performance well. This is also the target for this season. I understand after last season it's different. We will probably not get another title this season, but also new players came and need to improve many things in the squad as a team. They are getting better. Still we need to improve more. This is every game, every training and lesson for me and for us.

Q. (Indiscernible.) How much joy was there?

MAYA YOSHIDA: For me?

Q. Yeah.

MAYA YOSHIDA: Sometime I lose my head. Sometime I can push -- feel like I can push another five years. This is day by day. So I hope more days.

Q. So many times this season you've hit the crossbar on the headers, they've just gone over. You've had so many close calls. Is there relief today that it went in? Is there -- I'd maybe use a word like Scott said, joy in the scoring of the goal?

MAYA YOSHIDA: Yeah, goal is main part of the soccer, so finally, as you say, I had a lot of opportunity to score and I miss a lot, so finally I could score today to contribute to the team. Very happy for that.

Hopefully more to come, yeah.

Q. I asked Greg about the set pieces today. Felt like you had some real missed opportunities on the set pieces, not as tight as they have been. He kind of agreed with that. How do you feel about that in the game? Did you get a sense that was happening?

MAYA YOSHIDA: Set pieces attacking?

Q. Yeah, set pieces, corners, short corners. It felt like --

MAYA YOSHIDA: Yeah, go on.

Q. No, no. Please go.

MAYA YOSHIDA: Last couple games we could score from the short corner and they -- I think they prepare well for that as well.

Yes, since last season attacking and defending, this is very important part to improve for ourself to reduce the goal against and scoring the goal too. We have a good serve that delivers and some big target mans.
