Heat 121, Wizards 114
DENI AVDIJA: Three times in a row, but it's the same stuff. Just stay focused. We've got to talk, talk better on defense. But honestly, there's so much more to it. I feel like me just being here and talking about cliches, we've got to do that, we've got to do that, it's not really going to change it.
We've got to change something, man. I don't know what it is, but we're not going to keep playing like that because we're playing good, we're playing together, playing good, and then something happens. I don't know what it is, but we're going to figure it out.
Q. I know the game is already decided, but at the very end you were pretty engaged there late on the bench. You were the guy who asked Ryan to review that play to potentially challenge the out-of-bounds play. What did you see from those five guys?
DENI AVDIJA: I got excited for them. I'm a fan. I'm a fan of playing hard. I'm a fan of the guys trying to come back.
I was happy as much as I was part of it, as if I was on the court. Those guys are working hard every day, and you've got to respect them for it. They cut the lead like two games in a row. You've got to love what they're doing. They're young, they're young confident, and I was just trying to help them on the sideline for what I can do.
Q. Is this just kind of part of the process of learning with a new group, young group, figuring out how to put together complete games?
DENI AVDIJA: I mean, definitely, that's a part of it. A lot of people forget we're a new group, we're a new team, we've got new management, and I feel like everybody needs to be on the same page for us to play better, but still, there's a lot of things that it's not about the group. It's about like, okay, how can you play better.
I think we're all talented. We just need to bring it more. That's about it.
Q. I know I've asked you this before, but how much are you seeing your off-season work pay off on the offensive end?
DENI AVDIJA: I mean, I see I'm more mature. I make better decisions. I'm smarter. I'm more experienced, and I feel like my shot has really improved. It's still early in the season; I want to knock on wood. But I feel like it's heading in the right direction. I feel like I'm making really good steps.
Honestly, for now, it doesn't really matter what I do on offense. As long as we keep losing like that -- we're trying to win, so we've got to change something. I don't know what it is.
