Nets 124, Wizards 97
Q. What was the difference in the third quarter?
WES UNSELD JR.: Yeah, I think we got a little frustrated with the lack of shot making. I thought we had some good looks. 6 for 33, it was a tough night for us from three. We're going to have some nights like that. But I felt that it allowed them to get out, run out, fast break points, affected our defensive disposition at times. I thought we were consumed with offense.
And then the second-chance points. You double down with the handful of turnovers, 15 turnovers for 20 points, you're going to be sledding uphill.
Q. This was such a point of emphasis this morning about corner threes. What was it in that second half that got them open there?
WES UNSELD JR.: Yeah, I think the one-on-one piece, being able to contain the ball, shrink spots. We got spread out a little bit. In general you keep that team to 10 threes, you feel pretty good about it. They average close to 16 a game, 16 makes. They scored them in bunches there in the third. I think that started to spread us out even more.
Q. What did you think of shot selection in general?
WES UNSELD JR.: At times, good. At times I thought we got bottled up a little bit with the switching. Got a little static with our spacing. We want to try to avoid that. But give them credit. They started switching, and they're very physical at the point of attack, so it kept us out of the paint.
Q. Was there something their defense was doing to bother Jordan tonight?
WES UNSELD JR.: Yeah, they were topping him, keeping him coming up the floor. I thought they were very handsy and aggressive with him, put a really good defender on him with size and length. So it makes it difficult at times to create separation.
Q. Bilal's first career double-double. Seems like he's continuing to make strides. What do you make of his performance tonight?
WES UNSELD JR.: It was solid. I thought he really competed on the ball. It was tough because you know they're a volume pick-and-roll team, so possession after possession, getting hit on screens, navigating, fighting the square, getting contest, I think in general it was good.
Q. Seemed like your second unit got you guys some energy, especially in that second quarter. What was it about that group that helped you -- you fell down by 10 in the first and they really pulled you back in and you were within three at halftime.
WES UNSELD JR.: Yeah, I think the pace at which they played. I'm not talking about just initiating up the floor but just in the half court. The spacing that it allowed, I think Gallo is a stretch big at times that opens up the floor for guys. I think they do a good job. They've done so all season. Credit to them. They've continued to show -- they found a little bit of identity within themselves, and they kind of lean in on each other.
