Cavaliers 114, Wizards 106
Q. Pretty steady diet of scoring for you tonight. What was working for you and how did you find that level of consistency scoring the ball?
COREY KISPERT: Yeah, just being really aggressive early. I felt like over the last couple games, I think we found something that's really going to help me be consistent for the rest of the year. Kind of stuck to my guns. I was out there for a long time, played a lot of minutes.
I've been pretty good, getting better and better at finishing at the rim, taking advantage of that when guys close out. When the shot wasn't open, I was able to drive and get to the cup, too.
Yeah, I kind of got it going from all different areas of the floor. It's always good to make your first shot, too. The first three went in. Kind of let it roll from there.
Q. Is there anything that you can share?
COREY KISPERT: Yeah, it's arc honestly. I have pretty naturally a flat shot. When I miss shots consistently, it's because it gets too flat. We really kind of looked at the last couple games, specifically the Phoenix game. Didn't make one. Really kind of worked hard at putting some air underneath the ball. Turned out pretty good tonight. We're going to roll with it for the next couple games and try to iron that into my routine.
Q. When you make changes to your shot like that, how much is that at the top of your mind? Before you rise up for a shot in the game, I got to make that change, or you work it in, it feels natural?
COREY KISPERT: You work it in, it feels natural. It's important to work those reps in when you have a controlled environment, work that into the fold. When it comes to game time, it's like playing golf when you have a swing thought. You want to stick to one or two of them otherwise you're going to get too far in your head.
Having a shot thought and a swing thought was an easy translation for me.
Q. How does something like that on film come up this season?
COREY KISPERT: I mean, it's come up before. Like I said earlier, my shot, even when I'm feeling good, is naturally a little flatter. But when it gets to a point where you can notice it on film, that's when you have to correct it.
Every single game we're watching film. I don't watch every game, but when it pops out at you on the film, that's when you kind of got to go back and reassess.
It's a small tweak. It's an easy tweak. It's just something I need kind of constant reminders of to make sure I'm at my best from back there.
Q. This wasn't the first game you played where you made the tweak?
COREY KISPERT: This was, yeah.
Q. Generally the trade deadline, how do you personally deal with all the uncertainty?
COREY KISPERT: It's the most interesting time of the year for an NBA player, that's for sure.
Yeah, I mean, you talk to your people. There's really no way of knowing what's going to happen until it does. It's part of the life of playing in this league. It's kind of one of the darker sides of it. Guys got to pack up and move from across different teams. Everyone's prepared for the beginning of February. It's definitely on all of our minds.
At the same time we're prepared for it. We're prepared to play if nobody gets traded or we're prepared if a bunch of guys do. It's just kind of how much you roll when you've been in the league.
It's definitely something you've got to get used to. I'm feeling like I'm more prepared for it this year than ever. Whatever we decide to do, whether it's a little or none or a lot, we got to roll with the punches.
