Bilal Coulibaly

Media Conference

Q. We talked to you I guess about a month ago about where you were at in your injury recovery. Where are you at right now as you enter this off-season?

BILAL COULIBALY: Yeah, I'm about to take the cast off like in a couple days, so yeah, ready to go through the rehab and everything and get back on the court.

Q. How are you mapping out your summer and what you plan to do and what you hope to accomplish?

BILAL COULIBALY: Just like working, working on my game, take some rest and see my family and everything, too. But obviously working on my game, working on the things I've been saying I've got to work on. Yeah, I'll say that.

Q. Defensively you're already a dog. Offensively what areas do you want to improve on in the off-season?

BILAL COULIBALY: In the off-season I'm trying to improve on my shooting, getting my shot up a little bit quicker, create my own shot, too, so being able to dribble the ball a little bit more and better, so I'd say, yeah, handling the ball better. That would be a big part.

Q. BK told us with regards to what you've been able to do with the injury and with the cast on, with dribbling, utilizing your left hand, working on that, and as well, working on your body, what have you been able to work with, especially with DV and trying to grow your game, even with the injury?

BILAL COULIBALY: Yeah, that left hand has been working. My shoulder is sore right now. I've been working just before. But even like in life; brushing my teeth with my left hand, washing myself with my left hand, everything with my left hand. I've been developing something in myself that I wasn't doing before, so I'm happy about that.

Q. Have you had any conversations with Vincent about training camp and potentially being invited to camp and hopefully representing France?

BILAL COULIBALY: Not yet. I think they've got to wait until the season is really over to talk to us and everything, so yeah, we'll get in touch I hope soon. I'll try to make the team, like I said, and yeah, it's going to be a fun time if I do it.

Q. If you are named to the team, what would that mean to you and your family, especially with you guys hosting in Paris?

BILAL COULIBALY: Yeah, it would be like a new goal achieved. It would be nice. Like you said, in Paris, too, so my family would be able to see me play with the French national team for the first time. So it's going to be great.

Q. When we talked to you back in October at media day, everything was so new. You had just gotten to the United States and you didn't really know your way around yet. After one year are you being more comfortable being in America and playing in the NBA?

BILAL COULIBALY: Yeah, and we've been moving so much this year as NBA players, so yeah, I like it. I like it over there. My teammates have brought me some stuff, like concerts and everything, so yeah, I know a lot of stuff now here.

Q. Who did you see in concert?

BILAL COULIBALY: Burna Boy.

Q. Were there any different things about your rookie season that you expected to be hard that were easier than you expected or harder than you expected coming into the NBA?

BILAL COULIBALY: I was just aware of the physicality out there. People are way stronger, way more athletic and everything. Whenever I stepped on the court, I didn't see that much of a difference, being able to play defense like most of the best players. So I was pretty happy with that.

Q. What did you learn about yourself and maybe even your body going through an NBA season and the amount of games and just all that goes into it?

BILAL COULIBALY: Yeah, I learned a lot. The main thing was taking care of your body because every day doing your treatment at a good time and everything, so yeah, I think that was the main thing I've learned. Drink a lot of water, too. Shout-out to Tyus for that. Yeah, I'd say that.

Q. You mentioned your family maybe being able to watch you this summer in France. What was it like for them this year watching you as an NBA player? I know we saw them at games, but what was that whole thing like for the Coulibalys?

BILAL COULIBALY: They love it. They loved it. My dad is a big fan of basketball, my little sister, too, and my mom got into it this year more. Yeah, they loved it. Even my older sister who never played sport or anything, she loved it and she was locked in, watching the games at 2:00 a.m. and everything, so that was nice.

Q. What are your off-season plans? Are you going to spend some time in France? Do you know if you'll be playing in Summer League yet?

BILAL COULIBALY: I'll do back and forth between D.C. and France, and Summer League, I don't know. It depends if I get the Olympics and everything. Yeah, we'll see for that.
