Bub Carrington

Media Conference

Wizards 125, Bulls 107

Q. Bub, how gratifying was it to see the team play like this today?

BUB CARRINGTON: Super, super. We put in the work for this to look like this team. It's something we expect of ourselves. Just to see it, it's obviously a great feeling.

Q. How did you feel physically? I ask because the bump to the head you took was very scary to anyone who saw it.

BUB CARRINGTON: How do I feel physically? Perfect. That's the best answer I've got for you.

Q. Not only did you return, you obviously played really well. What was working for you out there?

BUB CARRINGTON: I would say, like, letting the game come to me. Like I got a few catch and shoot opportunities that my teammates create for me because most of the time I'm creating for them. So just kind of letting the game come to me. It worked out for me. I was confident, and they went in today.

Q. How would you describe the improvement for the team overall recently and maybe what are the common traits of the wins that you guys have been able to pull off?

BUB CARRINGTON: I would say we just have a pep in our step. As cliche as it might sound, our energy is just a lot different when we look like that team. Lately it's been resulting in a few wins, and that's the plan moving forward.

Q. Alex has strung together a really good stretch of games of late. What have you noticed from him and the work he's put in and how it's showing up now?

BUB CARRINGTON: I noticed that he's just super confident. He's acting like who he is. He has that mindset of who he is, like where he belongs, and what he's supposed to do. He just kind of has like a completely different level of focus to his approach to the game, and it's showing.

Q. As the person on the team along with Ky who's probably known him the longest, what have you noticed about that confidence since Summer League through now?

BUB CARRINGTON: I've noticed, like I said, it's grown. I would say that it's the confidence factor, but it's also his approach. I feel like that's the part that's not getting enough credit when it comes to Alex. Like myself, 19, young. You easily can get distracted or unfocused. But his approach to the game has been laser focused, and it's been strong.

Q. You mentioned the pep in the step. This team won three games in the first 24 but also won three out of the last seven. I asked Coach if there's an increased level of confidence in the locker room and he said no because you've been putting in the work the entire time. Would you concur with that?

BUB CARRINGTON: I wouldn't say it's a confidence issue for sure. I stand on what Coach said. Like I said, we haven't really changed anything that we're doing. It's more like, like I said, just the discipline factor. In the beginning of the year we might have had 25 turnovers, now we might have 16. We're starting to just kind of stay focused for longer in the games, and obviously that's going to result to way different outcomes.

Q. Is there a reason that the discipline has been increased or do you believe it's just natural progression over the course of a season?

BUB CARRINGTON: I believe it's natural progression. Young team, also a team that has not played with each other at all. Like most teams we're playing against, I watched on TV four years ago. We weren't used to each other, and we're starting to get used to each other now. It just looks smoother.

Q. Muggsy Bogues was in attendance tonight, another Baltimore guy who played for this franchise. He's probably way before your time, but have you got any chance to interact with him?

BUB CARRINGTON: No, I missed him today, but I've known Muggsy pretty much my whole life. I used to play against his grandson all the time when we were younger. He used to be at games. I know his brother well. He was a ref in Baltimore City, used to ref at a lot of my games.

Really familiar with him. He mentioned that he was going to catch up with me next time because we just missed each other today.
