Alex Sarr

Media Conference

Bucks 104, Wizards 101

Q. Alex, you guys have been given more responsibility as the season has gone on, and this team is more willing to throw the rookies into the fire than probably anyone else in the league. How satisfying is it that this is manifesting in consistent, competitive basketball in the last few weeks?

ALEX SARR: Yeah, I think we're all trying to really just go out there and compete, play our hardest. Since the beginning of the season we've had a chance for young guys to really play. They trust us for that, so we've just got to play hard really and compete really.

Q. This is Kuz's first game back and he went ready a few times. Was there a little extra intensity in this matchup?

ALEX SARR: I mean, it was just great. I played with him for half a season. It was very competitive, and I was excited to play against him. It was a cool matchup for me.

Q. What was it like having Marcus Smart as part of this defense protecting the rim on the back end and having one of the best perimeter defenders?

ALEX SARR: Yeah, just the intensity. I don't think I was on the same time as Marcus, but just seeing his intensity, doing everything, talking, he's early in his spots so I think he's just leading by example, and he's just great for us to follow because he has so much experience on winning teams, whether it's offensively or defensively.

Q. Today you hit several threes against one of the best shooting big men, Brook Lopez, and also scored over Giannis. In terms of your development, what kind of player do you see yourself becoming in the future?

ALEX SARR: I'm just trying to work on my game all around just so I can be able to do whatever needs to be done on the court, whether it's being a presence defensively, being a presence down low offensively, too.

Q. What did you think about Kyshawn's big defensive plays?

ALEX SARR: Yeah, Kyshawn was definitely a great impact defensively at the end of the game, offensively, too. But just his stops, they were huge and really gave us momentum in the fourth.

Q. With about 30-odd games left, what about tonight are you hoping you can carry into the rest of the season and finish strong?

ALEX SARR: I think just realize that we can up our communication still. Tonight was really a competitive game, and I think we've just got to keep it going, stick together, and keep competing.

Q. What was it like trying to counter their defense in the second half after the hot start that you had offensively?

ALEX SARR: I mean, they did read a little bit, so I had to adjust to that, some more pick-and-rolls, some different type of actions. So just keeping the game flowing and letting stuff happen.
