Alex Sarr

Media Conference

Magic 120, Wizards 105

Q. Alex, your thoughts on tonight's game?

ALEX SARR: I think we kind of let things slip third quarter. Didn't really come out with as much energy. They got the lead and then we were just trailing trying to come back.

Q. What makes them tough to face?

ALEX SARR: I mean, I think it's more about us and the way we came out third quarter. Obviously they're a good team, so they're going to capitalize on our mistakes, and they know how to take advantage of some of the mistakes we made.

Q. Have you felt a shift in your game recently coming back off injury, comparing to before you were hurt? Has there been any big change for you?

ALEX SARR: I wouldn't call it a big change. I feel like maybe just having more experience as the year keeps going, more games under my belt, and just kind of knowing the game a little better.

Q. Coming in more as a defensive player, how gratifying is it for you to do so well on offense recently, just sorting getting to hit so many shots in a row?

ALEX SARR: Yeah, basketball is played both ways, obviously. You try to be impactful defensively but also try to be impactful offensively.

Q. You've been much more effective of late in being a roll man in pick-and-rolls. How do you feel like you've grown in that area?

ALEX SARR: Yeah, I feel like it's definitely gotten better, still could be better, but yeah, getting the ball in the pocket, rolling to the rim, guys finding me, rolling to the rim, so yeah.

Q. What are the improvements you've made in that part of your game to help you? Is it something about your technique --

ALEX SARR: I feel like it's pretty much been the same. It's really just timing maybe, that change, knowing when to roll hard, when not to, stuff like that.

Q. What goes into your mind as you try to make the decision of when to roll, when to (indiscernible) your teammates talked about how good you are in that area. How do you approach that decision making?

ALEX SARR: I think it depends like who's coming down the pick-and-roll. Some guys like Jordan, they chase them a lot, so I can do both most of the time. Then it depends some other guys, maybe they need me to roll hard so they can get a lay-up. So it just depends.

Q. (Indiscernible) gaining more experience throughout the season. What are some of the things that you've learned that you've been able to apply to your game?

ALEX SARR: I would say just trying to keep my energy level high. I think that helps a lot, whether that's defensively or offensively. It helps me get going, also, whether I'm talking or doing the little stuff, kind of helps me get in the game, so stuff like that.

Q. You made a late push for Rookie of the Year. What does that award mean to you?

ALEX SARR: I can't really control -- obviously there's voters and stuff, so I can't really get too caught up in that. I'm really just trying to improve and get the most out of the few games we have left.

Q. How important is it to you to end the season on a high note and kick off the off-season?

ALEX SARR: I think it's very important just for what we're trying to build. It gives us momentum heading into the summer, allows me to know what I need to work on, stuff I can improve on. Very, very important to me.
