Bryce Young

Postgame Press Conference

Panthers 36, Cardinals 30

Q. Bryce, what was the room like, and how does it compare to last week?

BRYCE YOUNG: We won this week so it was a lot more fun after the win.

Q. In terms of the atmosphere, what does it say for the team to have that game and then bounce back and win like this?

BRYCE YOUNG: This is big for us. We talked about this last part of the season being a great opportunity, just for us to finish, to set the tone for the future, kind of lay the foundation of where we want to go, and it's a week-to-week league. We're just in this week. We can only do one week at a time.

But just having that point of emphasis and coming out and executing, having a great team win today. And in the cold, in December, there's no quit in this team at all. Something I'm super grateful to be part of. I think just our strive to finish and that's something that Coach instills in us on a daily basis. I think it's showing.

Q. The finished from Chuba, a few weeks ago, it was a much different result. What did it mean for you and the team to see him finish this way?

BRYCE YOUNG: Again, that was a big statement for us internally. We talk about finish, and we want to finish on our terms. Just to finish in that way, first down, knowing we don't have to leave it up to -- we don't have to leave it up

to 3. We don't have to be conservative in how we attack in our run game. And Chuba doing a great job, making two people miss in the open field, the line giving him that hole. We have all the faith in those guys, and just a great way for us to finish the day today.

Q. Describe the trust you have in him.

BRYCE YOUNG: In Chub? Complete. That's my dawg. The thing that people don't see is how hard he works throughout the week. I can't even tell you, when he leaves this place, he's constantly doing extra things, doing little things, constantly watching film, taking care of his body. He cares and gives so much to this game.

On top of the player he is, the person he is, the dedication that he has and the tough me shows that no one gets to see, the outside public doesn't get to see, that continues to build on all of us, how much we trust him.

Q. Bryce, what have you learned or what can you see on the field now that's different than the first two games of the season?

BRYCE YOUNG: I think it's us coming into our own, being able to start to establish an identity, understand what the brand of football we need to play is, what Coach brought here. And getting more reps, more opportunity, us being able to grow together to establish that, have that belief within ourselves. I think that is something that's definitely grown throughout the year and something we have to continue to keep building on.

Q. As far as that goes, what you're seeing different now than you were at the beginning?

BRYCE YOUNG: Again, just time in the system, time as a team for us to come together. Yeah, and for me being able to get reps, get time with everyone, I think it's just all of us being able to feed off of each other, and it's been able to allow us to turn in the right direction.

Q. Bryce, the touchdown to David, you took a pretty good shot in the chest and kind of popped up smiling. What's going through your mind in that setting?

BRYCE YOUNG: Yeah, it's football. You gotta do whatever you can to try to move the ball, try to be efficient. That's what the game's all about. Everyone's out there risking their bodies, putting their bodies on the line, doing whatever it takes. I'm right there too. And I'm in a position where it only maybe shows up one or two times a game so I definitely don't have anything to complain about.

But, yeah, whatever it takes to win, I know that again, everyone else in the locker room is doing the same thing so I want to be able to give my all for the team.

Q. Bryce, along those same lines of you taking some hits, I believe it was the first drive of the game was a third down. You scramble and kind of run over a linebacker and you get up and you kind of shrug. Your personality is kind of showing. What do you remember from that play, if you do recall that play, and I'm not sure we've seen that personality as much as we have these past couple games. What is that a product of?

BRYCE YOUNG: Just wanted to bring a spark, bring energy, be whatever the team needs. I think for me, just as a leader, whatever I can do to get the guys going, to get the sideline into it, to push us to our best ball, whatever that may be, whatever that may look like for me, that falls into my job description as a leader, as a quarterback.

So I think that's something that for all of us, we can kind of -- when we have those opportunities, we can rally. You see it from other guys, whether it's a run or pass, getting the guys going. Really, that's kind of the thought process, and I'm grateful to have guys around me that can -- we all just are looking for one little thing. We all love feeding off each other and all play for each other. So it's great because of that.

Q. It's like with each passing week, you're getting more comfortable with making plays out of the pocket, scrambling, rushing numbers keep going. Do you feel like that's become a more comfortable part of your game in terms of making plays with your feet?

BRYCE YOUNG: Again, trying to take what the defense gives. Again, as a passer, I always try and remain a passer as long as possible. And then we talk about all the time just extending above the 2.7 and starting the second play and doing whatever it takes. So for me, again, just being more comfortable in the system, playing with the guys. I want to do everything I can to continue to be efficient, move the chains, do what's best for the team. The last couple weeks has been a little more than that. Whatever it may be down the line, it's my job to do what's best.

Q. What did you see on that touchdown pass to David Moore?

BRYCE YOUNG: Just a one-on-one. I trust D-Mo completely. It was going to be tough for some other stuff we had on. So just a press one-on-one opportunity and just trusting D-Mo to go up and win, give him a shot. He did a great job of winning on the route, holding the DB off and making a great catch.

Q. Bryce, can you talk about the defense giving you the ball back?

BRYCE YOUNG: That's huge. You go out, you get the ball, things look good. We three-and-out to start. That sucks as an offense and as a team. It's easy to kind of get down, and the odds kind of swing in their favor. For our defense in that moment to step up, get a huge stop, not only get the ball back but get it back to us in great field position, again, that talks to the fight and the finish of this team.

We all have all the faith in the world in our defense. And just giving us that opportunity, you know, that was huge for us being able to do what we did today. All the credit goes to them.

Q. Bryce, how do you think the system and place has benefited your progress this year?

BRYCE YOUNG: I think Coach Canales and the entire staff does a great job of being able to capitalize on what they feel like is best for us from week to week. Especially, you know, looking at the defense, trying to be balanced, done a lot of things in the run and pass game that have been great for me to learn and grow.

The amount of what they bring systematically and the amount of communication they have, the way they explain stuff, talk through things, is super beneficial for me.

Appreciate you guys.
