Ravens 41, Buccaneers 31
Q. Coach, what can you else us about the Chris Godwin situation? Obviously a major injury there.
TODD BOWLES: He got ankle early that's dislocated. Doesn't look good.
Q. Coach, you're down ten; no timeouts; under a minute. You would need a score, onside kick, another score. Why is Chris Godwin in the game at that point?
TODD BOWLES: Well, he's a player. We're trying to win the ballgame. We were still down ten and trying to get extra points and kick another onside kick.
It just happened. We didn't have that many receivers left as it was, so we play what we got.
Q. Isn't that even more perhaps important to preserve Chris for the Falcons?
TODD BOWLES: You could say that because he got hurt. We don't second guess. We got our guys, we're playing everybody we got. It's unfortunate he got hurt and we feel bad about that, but he's a football player and he wants to be in the game just like Baker and everybody else.
Q. Don't you have an obligation to protect your players from themselves?
TODD BOWLES: I do protect my players all the time. It has nothing to do with why we left him in the ballgame. We still had a shot to score some points. It happened. It happens in football.
Q. What are your early indications on Mike?
TODD BOWLES: Got a hamstring right now. We'll see how bad.
Q. Same one --
TODD BOWLES: Yep.
Q. -- he was nursing?
TODD BOWLES: Yep.
Q. Are there any indications that it could be significantly more serious?
TODD BOWLES: We'll see. I don't know yet. I got to get all the details.
Q. Have you ever been through a game like this where you lost two position players that have meant so much to this team, to a team?
TODD BOWLES: I'm sure I have. I just haven't really thought about it right now.
Q. What turned the game around after 10-nothing?
TODD BOWLES: They got some big plays. Lamar got out of the pocket, made a big play in the passing game. We turned it over twice. Gave up two big runs in the second half to Henry.
Game kind of got away from us.
Q. With a team that was undoubtedly very shaken up after watching Chris, what did you say to the guys in the locker room? What can you say?
TODD BOWLES: Our prayers are out for him. He's a hell of a player and he's a hell of a human being. There is not much you can say. You feel bad for him. Unfortunately not going to cancel the games. We got to step up and move on.
Our hearts are heavy.
Q. How hard is it knowing the kind of season he's had and also what he went through this off-season.
TODD BOWLES: He was having a hell of a season. It's unfortunate. You know, it's unfortunate.
Q. Todd, obviously they've got a lot (indiscernible). What were you thinking game plan-wise and what did they do so well to beat that?
TODD BOWLES: They got playmakers. We held them down some and they got plays. The plays they got they got great players and we miss-fit some things.
The combination of both doesn't bode well.
Q. You had some busts in coverage. Is that safe to say?
TODD BOWLES: Yeah, one or two.
Q. Do we know if Chris is going to the hospital after this?
TODD BOWLES: I have no more information at this time.
Q. You think as the game went on Henry kind of wore you guys out on defense?
TODD BOWLES: We miss-fit two plays and he got two big runs. We miss-fit two plays. He's a hell of a player, don't get me wrong. He's a great, great player. Hats off to him. He knows how to cut it back and make those type of plays.
We miss-fit him.
Q. How big is your challenge without Mike, Chris?
TODD BOWLES: It's going to be tough. Our young you have young guys got to get experience real fast. It's going to be tough. See what we're dealing with and we'll make can adjustments during the week and he with the go to move on.
Q. ...with Jason to try to find a receiver before the trade deadline?
TODD BOWLES: We'll definitely look and see what's out there.
