Rutgers - 85, Notre Dame - 84 (OT)

MICAH SHREWSBERRY: Credit to Rutgers on just a hard-fought game. There's a lot of people in this business that I really respect, and Steve Pikiell is one of them for who he is as a person and as a coach and everything else. And being in the Big Ten I really enjoyed competing against his teams. So credit to those guys.

I guess after that is my heart, I told Markus Burton... I don't have any updates. I don't know what's going on. But we're just going to put this in God's hands and let him handle whatever happens next and we'll handle it.

There's no other group of guys, no other locker room I'd rather be in than with our group. And we might not be as talented as every team that's out here, but we're damn sure just as tough. And we compete and we execute and we're going to fight no matter who is putting this uniform on.

Q. Curious what you thought of Dylan tonight for Rutgers and his sixth college game to have that kind of performance?

MICAH SHREWSBERRY: He's a good player. People that make decisions at the next level see that he's done. I got a chance to coach him for a couple of days at USA Basketball and I've seen it before. He's got great feel. He's big. He's strong. He can attack and score.

He had 36 points. I thought our guys did a great job. I thought our game plan was really good. I thought Matt Allocco was really good, too.

Q. (General question to Matt Allocco about his late game shooting)?

MATT ALLOCCO: Trust, belief for my teammates. They trust me, get the ball in my hands, make a couple of shots. Ultimately it wasn't enough. Missed a good look at the end. But I don't know, basketball -- make shots, miss shots.

Q. Logan Imes played the most minutes he's played all year, 35. He stepped up big as well. Couple other guys as well. How do you explain the process with those guys who might not have had as many minutes going into this game but they stepped up huge for you guys at the end?

MICAH SHREWSBERRY: It's really just, we talked about it as a team the other day before we practiced, Logan is a good player. I've watched him play since he was a freshman in high school. Just a tough dude. And he hasn't got that many opportunities this year, but he's always stayed ready and it was his time. We need him to play more. We need him to do more. I thought he gave us really good minutes.

Q. (Indiscernible)?

MICAH SHREWSBERRY: Just an unfortunate situation. It's not the first time it happened. Probably not the last time it's ever going to happen. And because of injuries, because of fouls, we're playing a late game with a freshman.

But that wasn't the game. There were plenty of things that happened way before that that -- I thought we turned it over a couple times late in overtime which probably were the ones that put us behind.

We handled those the right way, we never get to that situation, we never get to that play. I still lose no faith in Cole Certa. He's going to play tomorrow. I guarantee you he'll make a shot tomorrow. He'll be ready to go tomorrow.

But it happens. And I feel bad it happened to him, but it's happened before. It's happened to a lot of people before. And he'll move on. He'll be better from this, we'll be better from this situation.

Q. Matt, you considered Rutgers when you entered the transfer portal before choosing Notre Dame, and Zach (Martini) was on other side as well, was this a weird game for you in that sense?

MATT ALLOCCO: No, try to approach everything the same. The objective is to win. I don't care what it looks like. I'm going to go back to the last question, too. I'm going to take it on me, too, because I think if I'm going to get responsibility, if I'm going to fancy myself a leader, I've got to communicate right there, when the game is tied, that we've got to get back and get set. Like Coach said, we're going to learn and we're going to be ready for tomorrow.

Q. (General question on Dylan Harper)?

MICAH SHREWSBERRY: Just big and skilled with size. Especially in college, there's not many guys that look like that that can handle the ball like he can. He's going to be a good player for a long time.

He's got a good feel. Like his passing ability, the way he sees the game -- just the last pass that he made, Williams hit the 3, just recognizing where the help was coming from early and throwing that pass. Like, most people, they don't have a feel, they're just forcing something and shooting it. I don't think he's really forcing anything.
