Q. What's going through your head as you're rounding the bases in the third inning?

ANDRÉS GIMÉNEZ: I was glad that the ball went out, because it was going to be a tie game. But honestly I was trying to move the runner, but I'm glad that that happened.

Q. That inning, after your home run, three more runs, a five spot total. How much of a release was that for the offense, which had struggled up to that point?

ANDRÉS GIMÉNEZ: Yeah, I think definitely something changed for our offense. But we come tonight with a mentality to attack, and try to do our job the best we can, and we did it.

Q. John said that he liked the way that you weren't just trying to put a ball in play, that you swung with authority in that at-bat. Can you just maybe describe your mindset of, you know, you said you want to move the runner over, but still taking a big swing and trying to do some damage at the same time.

ANDRÉS GIMÉNEZ: Yeah, I think I swung hard, but basically I was trying to hit the ball a little bit in front, just to hit it to that part of the field so Ernie could get to third. But, you know, I'm okay with what happened (laughing).

Q. You've watched Bieber pitch a lot. How much fun was it to see him do what he did tonight, and just what did you see from him over those six innings?

ANDRÉS GIMÉNEZ: It was fun. I think it was a special moment for us, because we were together when things happened different here a year ago. But, yeah, he just did his job. He's amazing. He's a competitor, and after the first inning he was impeccable. So I really am happy for him and happy for the team.

Q. On the day you were nominated for the Gold Glove and also, I mean, the way you hit today and just your homer, pretty much the entire team, the offense, what was your feelings about that?

ANDRÉS GIMÉNEZ: Being nominated on the Gold Glove, yeah, obviously I'm very happy, my family is so happy. But other than that I'm just so happy that we could, as a team, we came together and we could win this game. Because, as all you guys know, we needed to win tonight, it was huge for us, and everybody contributed, everybody was part of the win.

Q. The Mariners pitchers want to attack early and get ahead early. You guys want to be aggressive early in counts. Who wins the battle, what does it come down to, execution or the right swing or what?

ANDRÉS GIMÉNEZ: I think Kirby is a great pitcher. He has a really good fastball. I think we all together, we execute our plan as a lineup. We were just able to put the barrel on the ball tonight. He was throwing his electric fastball and we executed and we put the barrel on the ball.
