Blue Jays - 10, Yankees - 1
Q. When you think of how long you've been in this organization and where you came from in baseball, what does a night mean like this to you personally?
ALEJANDRO KIRK: Huge, huge. It means a lot to me. To my teammates, to my family, and I believe, as an organization, it was a great victory. I feel like we really need this victory tonight.
Q. The Yankees have built a reputation of being like a big swinging, big hitting, home run-based team, but tonight you guys won with the big hits, with the big home runs. What's that say about the Blue Jays offense that you can score runs with home runs and not just doubles and extra base hits and driving runners around the plate, across the plate?
ALEJANDRO KIRK: I'd say it's something that we did through the entire year. We always find a way to manufacture runs. Could be like hits, doubles, and also we have some power in the lineup that we're able to hit homers too.
Q. Alejandro, I don't know if you know, but you're the first Mexican-born player that hit two homers in a playoff game. How do you feel about that? How do you think everything's going to go for the rest of the way?
ALEJANDRO KIRK: It feels amazing to me, but it's work paying off. It's hard work that I've been putting in for these years. More important than that, what I'm happy is that we came out with a victory.
Q. What you saw, especially on that Judge at-bat, being it was a key at-bat for the game, you behind the plate, what were you seeing that you guys did -- you and Gausman did pretty well striking out Judge?
ALEJANDRO KIRK: Definitely, I think that was the key of the game. Striking out Judge right there, we were able to keep the game 2-1, and then we were also able to manufacture more runs. That was the key of the entire game, and Gausman was great entirely.
Q. I'm going to piggy-back off my colleague's question about Mexican-born players. Not only are you the first Mexican-born player to hit two home runs in a game, but also you're only the third overall to hit a home run in postseason play, Vinny Castilla and Erubiel Durazo. I was wondering how you feel about being in their company?
ALEJANDRO KIRK: It's great for me. Being named with those guys as idols, great players, it means a lot to me. I'm very happy to add my name on that list.
Q. You're one of the few guys who have been to the postseason the past three times with this team. What do you think it is about this group that it was the one that could get a win in the playoffs?
ALEJANDRO KIRK: All the teams in the past for me were good, good teams for me. I would say on this one, the way we work together, our chemistry in the clubhouse, the dugout, during the games, it's probably the difference between this team and the teams in the past.
